The bronze medal match was an opportunity for U22 Vietnam to find a consolation victory, to ease the pressure after losing to U22 Indonesia in the semi-finals. Although they could not win the championship, coach Philippe Troussier and his students ended the 32nd SEA Games with a medal after defeating U22 Myanmar without much difficulty.
U22 Vietnam took the field with a lineup that was different from the previous match. Coach Troussier gave a chance to some young players who were still in the age group for the next SEA Games. U22 Vietnam played well while their opponents seemed to have not recovered physically and mentally. Myanmar players played with a lack of determination and made many mistakes.
Not long after Nguyen Van Truong missed a chance in front of an empty goal, U22 Vietnam opened the score from an attack that was exactly in line with coach Troussier's tactical idea. The Vietnamese players launched an attack from home and suddenly accelerated, taking 20 seconds to get the ball to a favorable position for Ho Van Cuong to score.
U22 Vietnam controlled the match at a slow pace. Coach Troussier's students still had some awkward situations in defense but overall they still did well. The second goal for U22 Vietnam also came from a set-up situation. Van Cuong scored the second time on the scoreboard.
After a few passes from home, Le Quoc Nhat Nam sent a pass from home that tore through the opponent's defense. Minh Trong advanced to the sideline and assisted Khuat Van Khang to score, raising the score to 3-0.
