In recent times, the Steering Committee for the implementation of the OCOP program in Thang Binh district has coordinated and advised the Party Committee and government to implement mechanisms and policies to support the improvement of production and business capacity for OCOP entities in the area.
Thang Binh district selects typical local products to promote the development of the OCOP program. The district's functional departments actively inspect food hygiene and safety, paying special attention to guiding and supporting OCOP entities to produce products that meet Global GAP, Organic, GMP, HACCP, ISO standards....
The development direction of Thang Binh's OCOP products is to minimize fresh products, prioritize deep processing of products to increase value, and meet strict market standards. Thang Binh district has invited OCOP entities to participate in fairs, promotional programs, and connecting supply and demand for OCOP products.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huy - Vice Chairman of Thang Binh District People's Committee, the district's OCOP products have been constantly improved and upgraded in recent times, achieving many clear changes in quality, design, especially traceability.
The development direction of local OCOP products is associated with the application of science and technology; focusing on developing high-tech agriculture; actively seeking and expanding output markets for products.
In 2024, Thang Binh district will have 12 OCOP products recognized as 3 stars and 1 product as 4 stars. Up to now, the total number of products ranked as OCOP stars is 37.
Thang Binh district calls for and encourages businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas, linking with cooperatives and farmers to invest in production, harvesting, preserving and processing OCOP products, and supplying them to the market.
To continue improving the quality of products participating in the OCOP program, Thang Binh district has set out many key tasks. These include guiding OCOP entities to complete product profiles, organizing evaluation and classification of OCOP products.

Link efficiency
“Co Mot” cereal powder is a 3-star OCOP product of Thang Binh district. This product has been branded by Ms. Nguyen Thi Tien - owner of “Co Mot” business, and is favored by consumers.
Ms. Tien said that previously, the production facility operated on a small scale, and the product consumption market was mainly in the province. Participating in the OCOP program, with support from relevant sectors and authorities from the province, district to commune, Ms. Tien focused on investing in perfecting products, packaging, designs, etc. Thanks to the good quality of the products, the consumption market expanded throughout the country.
“Being recognized as a 3-star OCOP product is a milestone in the development of the “Co Mot” cereal powder product. To continue developing, I invested in expanding the production scale and linking with households. Investing in OCOP products according to the value chain brings benefits such as reducing production costs, increasing productivity, proactively sourcing quality raw materials and affirming the position of the product,” said Ms. Tien.
Binh Nam pure peanut oil of Binh Nam Agricultural Service Cooperative is a product that has been re-evaluated to meet 3-star OCOP standards. Mr. Tran Van Ninh - Director of the Cooperative said that for many years, the unit has cooperated with people in Binh Nam commune to grow peanuts on an area of over 100 hectares.
Quality peanut raw materials are the foundation for processing pure peanut oil. To expand the consumption market, the cooperative has created beautiful designs for products, promoted, and connected supply and demand of goods.
Linking the chain for OCOP products, the cooperative gains good economic value, farmers stabilize product output, and the locality exploits its peanut growing strengths. The cooperative continues to improve the pure peanut oil chain, aiming for export.
For Thang Binh, developing OCOP products in the direction of value chains contributes to restructuring the agricultural sector associated with developing small-scale industries, services, and rural tourism. That is the way to promote comprehensive and sustainable rural economic development.
