Ukraine is the leading market for supplying wheat to Vietnam, accounting for 27.4% of the total volume and 25.5% of the total import turnover of the country.


According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, in October 2024, the country imported 482,707 tons of wheat, equivalent to 128.21 million USD, with an average price of 265.6 USD/ton, a sharp decrease of 42.8% in volume, 43.4% in value compared to September 2024 and a slight decrease of 1.02% in price. Compared to October 2023, it increased by 16.4% in volume, but decreased by 1.7% in value and 15.5% in price.

In the first 10 months of 2024, the country's imported wheat volume reached nearly 5.02 million tons, equivalent to nearly 1.38 billion USD, an increase of 34.9% in volume and 7.1% in value compared to the first 10 months of 2023, with an average price of 274.5 USD/ton, down 20.6%.

Ukraine is the largest market supplying wheat to Vietnam in the first 10 months of 2024, accounting for 27.4% of the total volume and 25.5% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, reaching over 1.37 million tons, equivalent to 351.2 million USD, the average price is 255.5 USD/ton, a sharp increase of 879.4% in volume, 799.7% in turnover but a decrease of 8.1% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2023.

In October 2024 alone, Vietnam imported 248,725 tons of wheat, equivalent to 63.33 million USD, with an average price of 254.6 USD/ton, down sharply by 36.1% in volume and 34.9% in value compared to September 2024, but the price increased slightly by 2%. Compared to October 2023, it increased sharply by 329.4% in volume, increased by 304.2% in value, but decreased by 5.9% in price.

The second largest market is Brazil, accounting for 23.4% of the total volume and 21.3% of the total turnover, reaching 1.17 million tons, equivalent to over 293.14 million USD, with an average price of 249.6 USD/ton, a sharp increase of 348.9% in volume, an increase of 205.9% in turnover but a decrease of 31.9% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2023.

Next, the Australian market reached 948,149 tons, equivalent to 292.46 million USD, price 308.5 USD/ton, accounting for 18.9% of the total volume and 21.2% of the total wheat import turnover of the country, down sharply by 63.2% in volume, down 66.8% in turnover and down 9.8% in price.

Wheat imports from the US market reached 447,425 tons, equivalent to 138.6 million USD, priced at 309.8 USD/ton, up 22.9% in volume, down 0.2% in value and down 18.8% in price compared to the first 10 months of 2023.
