The people agree.
Upon arriving in Thong Nhat commune, the first impression is of wide, clean roads and alleys, and well-maintained houses. This is due not only to the leadership and guidance of the local authorities but also to the consensus and support of the people in the commune.
Despite being a single-parent household whose income mainly comes from agriculture , and living in a still usable old house, when Khay village expanded the road from 4 meters to 6 meters, Ms. Vu Thi Can (57 years old) readily demolished her house and donated 1 meter in width and over 15 meters in length to make the road straight, wide, and beautiful. "My new house is 25 square meters, costing 60 million VND to build, mostly thanks to family members. I think donating land for the road is a shared responsibility, so when I was asked to, I immediately agreed," Ms. Can said.

Along with donating land for road construction, the movement to maintain security and order, and prevent and fight fires has also received the consensus of the people. Currently, the commune has built three model projects on security and order: "Security and Order Protection Team for the National Historical Relic Site of Duoi Temple", "Safe Residential Area for Fire Prevention and Fighting", and a model of installing security cameras at key locations on commune and village roads. In 2024, the "Security and Order Protection Team for the National Historical Relic Site of Duoi Temple" model was recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as a typical self-defense, self-management, and self-protection model for security and order in the province.
Mr. Nguyen Van Soai, Head of the "Security and Order Protection Team for the National Historical Relic Site of Duoi Temple," said: "Regardless of day or night, we deploy forces to patrol and guard around the temple area as well as in the village on a voluntary basis. Combined with reports from the people, we have detected several cases of illegal drug use, violations of fire safety regulations, and theft by tourists during religious ceremonies… contributing to ensuring security and order in the locality."

Closely connected to the grassroots.
To achieve these results, the People's Committee of Thong Nhat commune has its own unique approach. The most important and crucial factor is the close involvement of officials and Party members in implementing the movements at the grassroots level. Mr. Vu Van Chan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thong Nhat commune, shared: "When implementing work at the local level, we clearly assign responsibilities and tasks, and regularly visit the grassroots to understand the situation and resolve problems promptly. Thanks to this, the movements implemented have achieved high efficiency and ensured the set deadlines are met."

The People's Committee of Thong Nhat commune also uses the results of each movement as a criterion for evaluating and assessing the year-end emulation results. From there, each official and Party member in the commune has their own way of doing things to effectively carry out the tasks and responsibilities of their unit and individual.
Mr. Vu Xuan Hung, Secretary of the Khay Village Party Branch, said that when Khay village expanded its main road, the village held a meeting to solicit feedback from the people. Everyone was given the opportunity to express their wishes and thoughts, so the road construction proceeded smoothly. For families needing to rebuild their boundary walls, gates, etc., the village will mobilize labor to provide support if necessary.
During the road construction process, the commune leaders and village officials regularly monitored the situation and promptly resolved difficulties. "Thanks to the close supervision of the government and the unity of the people, the roads in Khay village are all wide and beautiful. Not only did some families donate land, but they also contributed 40-50 million VND for road construction, camera installation, and street lighting. The village roads and alleys are always clean and safe," Mr. Hung affirmed.

Over the years, with financial support from the State, the people in the commune have contributed more than 31 billion VND, thousands of working days, and donated over 1,800 m² of residential land to expand and upgrade roads, build embankments around ponds, etc. In 2024, the average per capita income in the commune reached 90.67 million VND/person, 10.67 million VND higher than the average income of the district; the poverty rate was 0.77%, 0.07% lower than the district average...
Based on the achievements so far, in the coming time, the commune will continue to implement solutions to improve the quality of the criteria so that the material and spiritual lives of the people are further enhanced, deserving to be a model commune in the province.
On December 7, 2023, the Government issued Decree 86/2023/ND-CP, which stipulates the framework of standards for the title of exemplary commune, ward, and town with 5 groups of criteria:
+ Successfully carry out assigned tasks related to socio-economic development, national defense, security, order, and social safety.
+Economic life is stable and gradually developing.
+A healthy and rich cultural and spiritual life.
+ Safe and friendly environment, clean and beautiful scenery.
+ Strictly adhere to the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
