The most notable new feature of the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup (TNSV THACO Cup 2024) is the first time the qualifying round of the Southeast region is held, with the participation of representatives from the provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Dong Nai. Overcoming 5 other strong opponents, the football team of Dong Nai University of Technology (DUT) has excellently won the only ticket, to become the first representative of the Southeast region to participate in the final round (VCK) which will take place at Ton Duc Thang University from March 16 to 31.
At Bau Thanh Stadium (Long Dien District, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province), Dong Nai University of Technology had an emotional and convincing qualifying journey. Led by Coach Nguyen Hoang Minh, who is a match supervisor for professional tournaments of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the team from Dong Nai Province had a favorable start with a very important 2-1 victory over the biggest opponent in Group A, Thu Dau Mot University from Binh Duong Province, which has an impressive physique with many players approximately 1.80 m tall and a technical playing style.
Overcoming Vietnam Petroleum University in the second match, coach Nguyen Hoang Minh and his team entered the play-off match with the strongest team in group B, Binh Duong University, where player Ngo Phuc Nam scored a golden goal in the 80+3 minute, helping Dong Nai University of Technology have a thrilling victory, thereby owning the only ticket to represent the Southeast region to attend the final round of the TNSV THACO Cup 2024.

Coach Nguyen Hoang Minh commented: "This is the first time the Southeast region qualifying round has been held, so everything is unknown, but the teams participating in the tournament all have good expertise. In the opening match against Thu Dau Mot University, we were very surprised by the lineup and tactics of this team. They are a very strong opponent and Dong Nai University of Technology had a bit of luck to overcome them in the opening match. In the play-off match, we met Binh Duong University, which is also very strong, with dangerous factors. The Dong Nai University of Technology team fought until the last minute to win. It can be said that our journey to the qualifying round of the TNSV THACO Cup 2024 was very difficult, the team together persevered and patiently to achieve victory."

Players must play with all their might, be confident and comply with the referee's decisions; be respectful, do not play dirty and do not have uncivilized behavior towards the other team as well as the audience, responding to the tournament's slogan "Play fair, Win fair, Cheer beautifully".

After winning the ticket to the finals, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh switched to the role of Technical Director (GDKT), handing over the head coach position to Le Huu Phat, a son of Dong Nai who used to play professionally for Dong Nai and Dong Thap clubs... From February 19, the team gathered to practice (before that, the team practiced until close to Tet and gathered 1 week early) to best prepare for the finals. The Dong Nai University of Technology team proactively practiced on the 11-player artificial turf to adapt to the competition conditions at Ton Duc Thang University's football field.
In addition, coach Le Huu Phat and his team also had a series of friendly matches to test and assemble the squad with local teams and Van Lang University (lost 1-2), Nong Lam University (drawn 0-0)... or won the champion team Bien Hoa City 2-1 with 2 goals from Ngo Phuc Nam (9), Hoang Thanh Hoai (11)...
Having participated in the Southeast region qualifying round to support the team, Coach Le Huu Phat shared: "Unlike many other teams that have experience participating in the finals in the first season, this is the first time our students have participated in such a large and quality tournament. They are very worried but also extremely excited to be able to come to Ho Chi Minh City, live together and play in the finals of the TNSV THACO Cup 2024, which last year they could only experience through the press and direct links.

Through the qualifying round, we saw that the tournament gathered many very strong teams such as Da Nang University of Sports, Hue University of Economics, and Thuy Loi University, along with unknowns of the tournament such as Nha Trang College of Technology and Economics, Tra Vinh University... Our team will try to promote collective strength, solidarity and determination with the goal of learning, if possible, we will pass the group stage and participate in the quarter-finals."
It is expected that the Dong Nai University of Technology football team will march at 8:00 a.m. and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 9:00 a.m. on March 15. Coach Le Huu Phat and his team will be supported by the Organizing Committee and the accompanying sponsor Saigon Tourist Group to cover all expenses for food and accommodation at the 4-star Thien Hong - Bat Dat Hotel. The team's travel, training and competition during the time participating in the final round will also be guaranteed by sponsor Phuong Trang. It is known that Dong Nai University of Technology is also planning to set up convoys for its students to go to Ton Duc Thang University to cheer for the home team at the first TNSV THACO Cup 2024 student football festival.

The Dong Nai University of Technology football team is preparing to participate in the final round of the 2024 TNSV THACO Cup for the first time, but the teachers and students here have set their sights on an ambitious grand strategy that is being vigorously implemented.
