According to information from the Thai Government's Public Relations Department, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has approved that from July 15, citizens from 93 countries and territories entering Thailand will not need a visa and will be allowed to stay for up to 60 days per visit to this Southeast Asian country.

These new measures are aimed at stimulating the economy and tourism.

According to the list published by the Bangkok Post, previously, Thailand only exempted visas for citizens of 57 countries and territories (including Vietnam), now adding 36 more countries.

"Tourists from countries and territories that are eligible for visa exemption can come to Thailand for short-term tourism or business purposes," said Traisuree Taisaranakul, a spokesman for the Thai Ministry of Interior.

Additionally, the number of countries eligible for visa on arrival will increase from 19 to 31.

Thailand will introduce a visa aimed at “digital nomads,” freelancers, and tourists who want to perform or learn cooking or Muay Thai skills. The visa will allow holders to stay for up to 180 days.

Students with visas to study for a master's degree or higher are allowed to stay in Thailand for an extra year after graduation to travel or find work instead of having to leave the country immediately as before.

The Thai Prime Minister expressed optimism about the new regulations, saying that the country would prepare measures to meet the demand of increasing visitors from major markets around the world.

The number of foreign tourists to Thailand as of July 7 reached 18.2 million, up 35% compared to the same period in 2023. This influx of visitors brought Thailand 858 billion baht in revenue. The countries with the largest number of visitors to Thailand are China, Malaysia, and India.

The country's appeal is growing, with stunning beaches, pristine nature reserves, dramatic countryside, delicious cuisine, vibrant nightlife, good quality accommodation at affordable prices.
