The Thai Ministry of Commerce will coordinate with more than 300 manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, as well as convenience stores to hold a large-scale promotional event on discounts on goods and services as a New Year gift to the people.

Mr. Wattanasak Sur-iam, Director General of the Department of Internal Trade under the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, said that this discount campaign is a continuation of a previous project implemented from October 2 to December 31, in line with the government's policy to reduce living costs for people.

The new discount campaign is scheduled to run from December 15, 2023 to January 15, 2024. In October, the Commerce Ministry partnered with 288 business operators to offer discounts on 151,676 items nationwide for three months. Some of these products and services were discounted by up to 87%, and are estimated to reduce consumers’ living costs by 2-3 billion baht.

Mr. Wattanasak said the policy has helped stimulate spending and boost the economy, and he hopes the new discount program will also be effective.

This is one of the largest events and covers products in all categories from food and beverages, agricultural products, essential goods to services.
