Notably, the Tr'din molasses product "Forest Foods - organic natural sugar" is a story of teacher Pham Thanh Hoang's deep affection for the people of the highlands.
During his years of teaching here, Mr. Hoang has mobilized benefactors to contribute materially and spiritually to help people and students in the border communes overcome difficulties. On each visit and gift-giving trip, he was treated to tr'din wine, also known as "heavenly wine", by the beloved Co Tu people.
Seeing that the Tr'din tree has many valuable medicinal properties, teacher Hoang focused on research and successfully produced the Tr'din molasses product "Forest Foods - organic natural sugar".
At the same time, investing in machinery, equipment, and human resources to establish a business called Tay Giang Forest Garden Food Joint Stock Company. Tr'din molasses products were also awarded the second prize for creative startup ideas and projects in the province in 2024. Also from the tr'din tree, Tay Giang Forest Garden Food Joint Stock Company continued to research and successfully test Tr'din syrup products.
According to statistics in 2018, only a few households in the two communes of Ch'Om and Ga Ry planted 3 hectares of ginseng and other localities planted Morinda officinalis on scattered areas, but now there are hundreds of hectares of medicinal plants planted widely in the district.
In particular, through OCOP products and production chain linkages, it has contributed to promoting the brand, expanding the product consumption market, and creating regular jobs for thousands of households in border areas.
In 2024 alone, there will be 3 products eligible to participate in the evaluation, recognition and ranking of district-level OCOP products, including dried ginseng of Truong Son Xanh Agricultural Pharmaceutical Cooperative; dried Tay Giang hawthorn of the Green Forest Ecological Agriculture and Clean Vegetable Cooperative; and Java Tay Giang lemongrass essential oil of the Green Revolution Medicinal Materials and Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative.
From a locality with a high poverty rate, Tay Giang district has now developed remarkably in many aspects. With the achievements, the Resolution of the 17th District Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025, setting the goal of escaping poverty by 2025, will soon be achieved.
