Specifically, according to German law, teenagers under 18 are not allowed to work after 8:00 p.m., including foreigners residing in Germany. As in the case of 16-year-old star Lamine Yamal, who is playing for Spain at Euro 2024. However, there is an exception for young athletes, which is that they are allowed to work at sporting events until 11:00 p.m. Even with this extension, Lamine Yamal could still "break the rules" because in addition to playing football, it also includes showering and interview time. Many matches in the knockout round of Euro 2024 will take place at 9:00 p.m. local time, which means they will end at 11:00 p.m. In the case that the Spanish team has to play at 9:00 p.m., Lamine Yamal will definitely exceed the "curfew". Not to mention the matches where Spain has to play extra time or penalty shootouts, the time will be even later. Legal expert Stephan Graf said the breach would have no sporting consequences, meaning Yamal would not be suspended. But Spain could be fined up to €30,000. Graf also said Germany could be “lenient” with Lamine Yamal. Lamine Yamal has been impressive in Spain’s first two games at Euro 2024, and has also provided an assist for Spain.
