U-Boat Worx, a renowned submersible manufacturer, unveiled its latest product, the Super Sub, at the Monaco Yacht Show, marking a major leap forward in marine technology, Interesting Engineering reported on October 4th. This submersible combines high performance and advanced engineering, making it suitable for underwater exploration.
With its advanced propulsion system and design, the Super Sub aims to revolutionize underwater exploration. The vessel can dive at a 30-degree incline, ensuring the smoothest possible experience for passengers with 360-degree visibility. A transparent, pressure-resistant hull at the front of the submersible provides unobstructed views in all directions. This innovative design allows passengers to enjoy panoramic views without being hindered by ballast tanks, batteries, or other components.
The most remarkable feature of this vessel is its unprecedented high speed, reaching up to 18.5 km/h, 5.6-7.4 km/h faster than the cruising speed of bottlenose dolphins and over 13 km/h faster than conventional submersibles. This extremely high speed offers thrill-seekers the opportunity to glide alongside sea turtles, race against sharks and dolphins.
The Super Sub's advanced SHARC control system coordinates the hydrofoil and propulsion system to work in harmony. The hydrofoil at the rear of the submersible allows for sharp turns and maneuvers, providing unprecedented agility.
The Super Sub is equipped with numerous safety features such as "maximum depth protection," preventing the submersible from descending beyond its permitted depth. In an emergency, safety buoys mark the submersible's position on the water's surface and can deploy weights to increase buoyancy. Additionally, the Super Sub has life support equipment capable of sustaining life for at least 96 hours.
The first Super Sub submarine will be delivered to customers by the end of 2023 and will be available in 2024.
