BTO-By this morning (June 19), the Oriental Star ship had arrived at Bai Phu area - Phu Quy island (about 3 nautical miles northeast of the shore) and handed over crew member Le Van Hung (born in 1987, in Dong Hoa, Phu Yen) to Phu Quy Border Guard Station. The health of the injured worker is normal.
Previously, according to information from Mr. Le Van An - captain of the Oriental Star ship, the ship was on its way from Ho Chi Minh City to the Philippines to deliver goods as planned. While passing through the waters of Binh Thuan, it rescued a crew member who was still alive in an area about 26 nautical miles north-east of Phu Quy Island. The captain requested instructions to hand over the rescued crew member to the authorities according to regulations.
Through working with Mr. Hung, it was learned that this worker was a crew member on the PY -95686 ship, who fell into the sea while using the restroom at 8:00 a.m. on June 18. After the accident, although he called for help, the crew members on the ship were sleeping, and the engine was running loudly so no one heard.
Binh Thuan Maritime Port Authority said that after receiving the news, the unit contacted the captain of the Oriental Star ship (Vietnamese nationality), instructing the ship to change direction to Phu Quy island area to facilitate the handover of the rescued crew member.
