On April 11, the Al Jassasiya ship from Ras Laffan, Qatar docked at PV GAS Port Warehouse in Phu My ( Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), carrying nearly 70,000 tons of LNG (liquefied natural gas) to supply to Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN).
Previously, PV GAS and EVN had a contract to supply nearly 70,000 tons of LNG, following the Prime Minister 's directive on ensuring electricity supply, coal and gas supply for electricity production in the coming time, especially during the peak dry season in 2024.
The above amount of LNG will be supplied to Phu My 3 Thermal Power Plant in the period of April-May 2024, to produce an additional 500 million kWh for the power system.
According to PV GAS, the pioneering use of LNG for electricity production in Vietnam in the context of other fuel sources facing difficulties affirms PV GAS's commitment to ensuring energy security and fuel sources for the country's electricity production. It also strongly demonstrates the spirit of "Energy inspires innovation" in PV GAS's green energy journey.
Up to now, PV GAS is the first and only enterprise qualified to import and export LNG; at the same time, owns a complete LNG port warehouse infrastructure system in Vietnam, officially operating from July 2023.
