On August 2, according to information from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the province has just assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to continue focusing on resolving the shortage of material supply. At the same time, preside over and coordinate with the Department of Construction and related units to support investors in reviewing and finding material sources for projects.

Regarding the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested relevant provincial departments and branches and the People's Committee of Ca Mau city to urgently prepare and ensure conditions for implementing the process, documents, procedures, and carrying out site clearance work.
Along with that, prepare related work under the authority and responsibility of the locality immediately after the project is approved by the competent authority for investment policy.
According to Mr. Trinh Thanh Sang, Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Ca Mau province, when the Government considers and approves the investment policy to upgrade Ca Mau Airport, the province will immediately call for investment.
"It is expected that the Ca Mau Airport upgrade project will be completed by August 2025," Mr. Sang added.
Ca Mau province is determined to hand over 100% of the site to the investor to implement the project by December 31, 2024.
Currently, Ca Mau province has issued a plan to investigate, survey, measure, count and issue a notice of land recovery. According to the plan submitted to the Ministry of Transport, Ca Mau Airport will be expanded by about 230 hectares, the number of households affected by the project is more than 1,000 households.
Along with that, it is necessary to conduct measurement and counting; establish, approve and implement compensation, support and resettlement plans; hand over the site; handle requests, complaints, arising backlogs and actual results of compensation, support and resettlement work.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, in recent times, the supply of sand and stone has been greatly affecting the investment costs and construction progress of investment and construction projects in Ca Mau province.
Particularly, the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport requires about 1.5 million m3 of sand for filling the foundation, and 300,000 m3 of medium-grain sand for other items. The time of use is concentrated in the first months of 2025.
According to the 2021-2030 planning period, the apron south of the runway will accommodate about four parking positions. By 2050, the planning of the apron north will be in sync with the new civil aviation area, accommodating about 10 parking positions and having reserves for expansion when needed.
Passenger terminal, period 2021 - 2030, expand the existing passenger terminal to meet the capacity of about 1 million passengers/year. Vision to 2050, plan a new passenger terminal in the area north of the runway, capacity of about 3 million passengers/year; reserve land for development when needed.
In the period of 2021 - 2030, the cargo warehouse is planned to the west of the passenger terminal, near the existing aircraft parking lot, with a capacity of about 1,000 tons of cargo/year. With a vision to 2050, the cargo warehouse is planned to the east of the new passenger terminal, with a capacity of about 3,000 tons of cargo/year.
Land use planning for the period 2021 - 2030, total land use demand is about 184.22ha. Vision to 2050, total land use demand is about 244.43ha.
