Focus on effectively combating and preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

The report of the National Steering Committee 389 stated: In the first quarter of 2025, the functional forces promptly detected, fought, prevented, arrested and strictly handled violations of the law related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, illegal transportation of goods across the border in accordance with their authority, contributing to stabilizing the market, protecting the rights and interests of businesses and consumers, ensuring security and order, serving the country's socio-economic development.

In the first quarter of 2025, the authorities detected and arrested 6,754 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods, 22,774 cases of trade fraud, tax fraud, 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods, intellectual property violations, collecting more than 4,616.7 billion VND to the state budget, an increase of 59.45% over the same period last year, and criminally prosecuting 1,328 cases/2,046 subjects.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister , Head of the National Steering Committee 389 Bui Thanh Son emphasized that, in the face of the current complicated situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, the Steering Committees 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities urgently reviewed, improved and improved the quality of the Steering Committees, and at the same time developed appropriate programs, plans and solutions in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, especially focusing on effectively fighting and preventing the illegal buying, selling and transporting of drugs, smuggling, illegal transport of gold, foreign currency, and goods counterfeiting Vietnamese origin for export to other countries.

Along with that, strengtheneducation for officials and civil servants to improve their professional qualifications, not to assist or protect smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; commend and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements to encourage and spread good examples and good deeds in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Standing Office of the National Steering Committee 389 to advise on amending the operating regulations and perfecting the National Steering Committee 389, and at the same time inspect and guide the standing agencies and member units of the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities to effectively implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister and the National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.
