On October 4 at the Provincial Youth Center, the Provincial Elderly Association Representative Board in collaboration with HelpAge International (HAI) organized a training course on establishing, operating and managing intergenerational self-help clubs for the provisional management boards of 9 clubs and officers of the Elderly Association at all levels where there are clubs implementing Project VIE085.
The training included 64 trainees who were members of the Executive Board of 9 Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs; members of the Representative Board of the Elderly Association of communes, wards and towns with Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs; representatives of the Elderly Association of Hoa Lu, Yen Khanh districts and Ninh Binh city.
During the 5 days, the trainees will be guided by the staff of the Project on Supporting the Disadvantaged Elderly through the Replication of Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs in Vietnam Phase 2 (called Project VIE085) on how to establish, operate and manage Intergenerational Self-Help Clubs so that when they return to their localities, they can apply them to practical activities.
The purpose of the course is to equip the staff of the Board of Representatives of the Association of the Elderly at all levels and the Executive Boards with knowledge so that they understand the context and necessity of intergenerational self-help clubs through dealing with issues of population aging to better serve the elderly; to build capacity for the Association staff and the Executive Boards on establishing, operating and managing intergenerational self-help clubs...
The project's goal is to have at least more than 1,400 elderly people in the province, mainly the disadvantaged elderly, benefit from the Project.
