Implementing the activities of Project 8 "Implementing gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children", the Women's Union of Yen Lap district has just organized a training course to improve knowledge on gender equality and skills in implementing gender mainstreaming for over 200 trainees who are village cadres, prestigious people, and community communication teams of communes in the district.

At the training course, trainees were informed about gender mainstreaming, gender analysis in ethnic minority areas; communication on gender equality, monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of gender mainstreaming; marriage and family in ethnic minorities; barriers and empowerment for women; basic concepts of gender knowledge, the role of stakeholders in gender equality; gender analysis in policy and some solutions to increase economic empowerment for ethnic minority and mountainous women.
Here, the trainees also had the opportunity to exchange, discuss and share good and effective practices, difficulties and problems regarding gender equality and gender mainstreaming in the process of performing tasks at the grassroots level.
Through the training course, it aims to raise awareness, change gender stereotypes, help women change their thinking and ways of doing things, ensure the voice and real participation of women and children in the community to promote the socio-economic development goals of ethnic minority and mountainous areas. At the same time, help trainees apply the knowledge they have been trained to mainstream gender in organizing activities in the community, improve the effectiveness of communication to change behavior, thereby gradually eliminating gender stereotypes for ethnic minorities in the area, contributing to achieving the goals of Project 8.
