Speaking at the opening of the training course, Ms. Phan Thi Kim Hoa, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Law Protection Newspaper, said that in recent years, the leaders of the Party, the State, ministries, departments, branches, and local authorities have issued many policies and taken drastic actions to conserve biodiversity, and our country has been assessed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as one of the leading countries in biodiversity conservation in the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to its positive contributions to the protection of endangered wildlife, Vietnam has also emerged as one of the hot spots for hunting, trading, consuming and transiting wildlife and wildlife products, with many cases having been arrested by authorities over the years.
Accordingly, it is very important to enhance the capacity of reporters and editors of the Law Protection Newspaper, the Inspection Magazine, the Electronic Information Portal of the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Court Magazine and representatives of the Legal Propaganda Teams of the Provincial People's Procuracy on the negative impacts of illegal wildlife trade on the economy, security, society and human health; thereby, propagating and disseminating information to officials in judicial agencies and all walks of life to strengthen the work of preventing and combating illegal wildlife trade.
The speakers shared with the trainees about: The situation of illegal wildlife trade in Vietnam in the period of 2018 - 2023; The role of the People's Procuracy at all levels in exercising the right to prosecute and supervise judicial activities in resolving cases of violations of the law on wildlife protection; Risks from illegal wildlife trade in Vietnam related to human health; Other violations and crimes: the connection from illegal wildlife trade to other types of violations and crimes; Crimes against economic management order.
In addition, reporters, editors, and prosecutors working in propaganda were introduced to data journalism and the process of creating data journalism works by speakers from the MDI Center for Communication and Development, which is very useful and effective for journalists and propaganda workers.
The training program takes place over 2 days, October 12-13, 2023. Participants will exchange knowledge, practical experience as well as learn many new skills in propaganda work on preventing and combating illegal wildlife trafficking.
