The provincial Agricultural Extension Center has just organized a training course on marine farming techniques and measures to prevent saltwater aquatic diseases in Tuy Phong district. 55 members of the Farmers' Association from Chi Cong, Binh Thanh, Phuoc The, Phan Ri Cua and Vinh Tan communes attended.
At the training session, members were taught about techniques for raising valuable marine species such as cobia, white grouper, etc. At the same time, farmers were instructed on measures to prevent and control diseases in caged fish farming at sea, and introduced advanced technologies and applications of science and technology in saltwater farming. Through the training session, local people who are raising marine species will be equipped with and gain more knowledge about farming techniques, how to handle situations, and solutions when detecting saltwater aquaculture diseases. Thanks to that, farmers will have more experience in forecasting the situation and limiting risks in the aquaculture process, reducing damage, increasing productivity and bringing higher economic benefits.
It is known that Binh Thuan is a province with potential for aquaculture development, especially marine aquaculture. Marine aquaculture in Binh Thuan has been developing rapidly in recent years, mainly raising species with high economic value such as cobia, grouper, yellowfin pompano... and some types of lobster. In 2023, the province will have 6 coastal and island marine farming areas with 3,081 cages covering an area of 14,168 hectares, of which Tuy Phong district will raise in the areas of Ganh Rai (Chi Cong commune), hamlet 7 (Vinh Tan commune) and Binh Thanh commune with a water surface area of about 5,000 m2 .
