At the conference, the two sides openly discussed the problems and wishes of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation and the technological capacity and ability to meet these requirements of FPT Corporation.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation is an enterprise under the Ministry of Transport, assigned by the Party and the State to ensure flight operations in the entire sovereign airspace over the territory and territorial waters of Vietnam and at all airports and airfields nationwide. VATM provides services over an area of nearly 1.2 million km2, with an operating range spanning nearly 30 provinces and cities nationwide, directly providing flight operations assurance services, holding an important position in flight operations in the East Sea area.
According to Mr. Nguyen Cong Long, General Director of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, VATM currently operates in five main areas including Air Traffic Management; Aeronautical Information Notification; Information, Navigation and Surveillance; Search and Rescue; Aviation Meteorology.
However, the core service is still flight operations, specifically the field of information, navigation, and surveillance (CNS). Therefore, VATM always focuses on development, constantly improving quality and wants to focus on digital transformation around CNS activities to increase operational efficiency and ensure absolute information security.
Today, aviation is one of the most technologically advanced and advanced industries, constantly at the forefront of digital transformation since the digital revolution began. However, the rapid increase in commercial flights is posing many major challenges in terms of aviation security and safety for flight management organizations.
Airlines forecast total passenger traffic to double from 4.3 billion last year over the next two decades, led by the Asia-Pacific market, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said on July 18, 2024.
“Currently, VATM is managing 36 international routes and 35 domestic routes, including some of the highest density routes in the world, ensuring that every aircraft taking off and landing in Vietnam's airspace will be absolutely safe,” Mr. Long shared more about VATM's challenging mission.
In that context, continuing to implement digital transformation is not only an option but also a mandatory factor to improve safety and efficiency standards, especially for leading organizations such as the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, which has a special political mission, responsible for managing and operating national air traffic.
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, General Director of FPT Corporation shared: “The field of operation of VATM is highly specific, not only in terms of expertise but also has a particularly important political mission. Looking at the corporate governance perspective, FPT can accompany VATM to carry out digital transformation in effective business operations, ensuring operational safety and information security at the highest level."
Mr. Khoa made the following suggestions: “VATM and FPT have in common the fact that they integrated very early. This integration has forced both businesses to meet the requirements and standards of the world, thereby raising the quality standards of VATM and FPT.

FPT is ready to learn to accompany VATM in applying digital transformation to solve complex professional problems, ensuring information security, building digital culture, digital awareness for staff, applying AI solutions, automation to help increase labor productivity, reduce pressure on VATM's resources; systems to coordinate operational flows, paperless offices; IoT monitoring systems; data storage...
Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa believes that with the experience of cooperation and solution implementation for customers in the fields of aviation and logistics, along with VATM's knowledge and expertise and FPT's experience in successful comprehensive digital transformation for global customers, the two sides can together create new solutions and values.
Mr. Le Hoang Minh, Chairman of the Board of Members of VATM, hopes that FPT and VATM will cooperate in training to improve technological capacity, and coordinate with a team of experts to develop solutions to improve management as well as security and safety.
“Currently, our flight management operations are applying many of the world’s most advanced technologies from flight operations, broadcasting, etc., but VATM still depends on foreign technology suppliers. We want FPT to support the research of equipment and technological solutions for backup or even replacement from the resources of Vietnamese technology companies,” Mr. Minh expected.
Mr. Ho Sy Tung, Deputy General Director of VATM shared: “The most difficult problem in digital transformation is the human problem because the core of digital transformation is still for people to use and serve people in their work. Hopefully, in parallel with the implementation of specific technology activities, FPT IS can support VATM in training the entire corporation on digital transformation in the most specific and practical way”.
At the discussion, FPT experts shared their methodology, experience in consulting and implementing digital transformation as well as FPT's product and solution ecosystem.
After the working program, the two sides will focus on specific exchange and cooperation activities, together aiming to help VATM fulfill its important mission and realize sustainable development goals.
