Information from Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, had a meeting and worked with EDP Renewables Group (a renewable energy development unit under the Portuguese Electricity Group) to explore investment opportunities and develop renewable energy projects in the locality.
At the meeting, Mr. Miguel Fonseca, General Director of EDP Renewable Group in Asia - Pacific region informed that currently, the Group owns and operates 2 solar power plants in Ninh Thuan with a total capacity of 418 MWp including Xuan Thien (250 MWp) and CMX Sunseap Vietnam (168 MWp).
At the same time, the Group currently has a policy of investing 1 billion USD in developing renewable energy in Vietnam in 2025; wishing to prioritize renewable energy investment in Ninh Son and Bac Ai districts of Ninh Thuan province.
Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, said that the locality is determined to build Ninh Thuan into a renewable energy center of Vietnam.
Therefore, in addition to wind and solar power, the province is promoting the call for investors to develop self-produced and self-consumed renewable energy projects in industrial parks; offshore wind power, LNG power and component manufacturing factories supplying renewable energy projects.

Relevant agencies and sectors guide and support EDP Renewables Group to learn and move towards implementing renewable energy projects in the province.
It is known that earlier in early September 2022, EDPR Sunseap Group (a subsidiary of EDP Renewables) and Xuan Thien Group announced the completion ceremony of the cooperation agreement for Xuan Thien Thuan Bac 1 & 2 Solar Power Project, with a capacity of 255 MWp.
The deal is worth $284 million, with an additional performance-based bonus, according to the people.
According to EDPR Sunseap, the group has chosen this as the first project for investment cooperation between EDPR Sunseap and Xuan Thien Group, and is also the largest investment in farm-scale solar energy of this group.
Xuan Thien Thuan Bac Solar Power Plant Project is invested, designed and constructed by Xuan Thien Group, built on an area of over 259 hectares in Bac Phong commune, Thuan Bac district, Ninh Thuan province. The project has a total investment of about 7,000 billion VND, an installed capacity of 256 MWp, and an expected annual power generation output of about 500 million kWh. The project has a 20-year power purchase contract with EVN at a FIT price of 93.5 USD/MWh.
Meanwhile, the CMX Renewable Energy Vietnam Solar Power Plant Project is invested by CMX Re Sunseap Vietnam Solar Power Joint Stock Company. The project has a capacity of 168 MW, built on an area of 186 hectares, in My Son commune, Ninh Son district, Ninh Thuan province. The total investment of the plant is approximately VND 4,400 billion, providing more than 200 million kWh/year to the national grid.
