Chinese technology giant Huawei announced on September 4 the opening of a cloud data center located in the Saudi Arabian capital Riyadh, in an effort to expand online services in the Middle East.
The new center will become the core data center for Huawei's cloud storage services in the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa, "providing innovative, reliable, secure and sustainable cloud services," Huawei said in a statement.
Huawei further revealed that the new data center in Riyadh will provide a range of cloud services including infrastructure, database, big data and artificial intelligence...
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Haitham bin Abdul Rahman Al-Ohali praised Huawei as the country's "proud partner" in the technology sector.
The Chinese tech company has been working with the ministry, local service providers, businesses and universities in joint efforts towards digital transformation.
