Receiving Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing and strengthening relations with traditional friendly countries, including Armenia.

On the afternoon of November 19, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Chairman of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan on his official visit to Vietnam.
Welcoming and appreciating the significance of the visit of the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament to Vietnam this time, the first visit by the head of the Armenian legislature after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, the General Secretary expressed his firm belief that the visit will create a new impetus to promote the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Armenia in the coming time.
Affirming that the traditional friendship between the two countries has been tested by time and many historical changes, General Secretary To Lam expressed his appreciation for the past and present assistance of the Government and people of Armenia to Vietnam in the cause of national construction and development.
General Secretary To Lam informed National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan about Vietnam's great and comprehensive achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi.
The General Secretary emphasized that in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations, Vietnam always attaches importance to developing and strengthening relations with traditional friends, including Armenia.
General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the good results of the talks between the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan, considering this an important milestone contributing to promoting relations between the two countries' parliaments.
Emphasizing the enormous potential for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, the General Secretary discussed with the Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly a number of major directions and measures to promote the traditional friendship between the two countries to become more substantive and effective, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan respectfully thanked General Secretary To Lam for the warm welcome given to the delegation; affirmed that Armenia always treasures the good traditional friendship between the two countries.
Talking to the General Secretary about the results between Armenia and Vietnam in parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly affirmed that this is an important time to promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields.
At the same time, National Assembly Chairman Alen Simonyan expressed his agreement with the General Secretary on major measures to promote the two countries' relations in depth, including promoting cooperation in education and training and people-to-people exchange between the two countries./.
