The work of developing party members among students has been given attention in recent years. The total number of admitted party members who are students has increased steadily over the years. However, according to Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet, the work of developing party members among students is still not commensurate with the scale and space.
Head of the Party Grassroots Department, Party member of the Central Organization Committee Nguyen Xuan Liet also commented that the work of propagating and educating revolutionary ideals for youth at all levels has received attention but is still not as expected. Therefore, units need to continue to promote the implementation of this work. Along with that, the role of Party committees at all levels should be strengthened; the Party admission procedures should be reformed to suit the target group of students.
Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai speaks at the forum
Analyzing the causes, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee Nguyen Trong Hung said that the degradation of qualities, ethics, lifestyle, "self-evolution", "self-transformation" of a number of cadres and party members has had a certain impact on the mindset of a part of the masses. In addition, university and college students are still hesitant and do not really want to join the Party.
Mr. Hung proposed a solution for the coming time: Party committees at all levels need to improve propaganda, education, and orientation of revolutionary ideals. At the same time, promote the role of Party, Youth Union, and Association organizations in schools; create dialogue forums between leaders and students to listen to the opinions, thoughts, and aspirations of union members and students.
Believe in young party members
To make the Party development work among students more effective, according to Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City National University Youth Union Phung Thi Dieu Huong, it is necessary to orient students in employment after graduation in the public and private sectors. In addition, the Party membership application should be streamlined to reduce time.
On the other hand, it is necessary to increase the application of information technology, connect information between relevant units in background checks, and collect feedback from localities for people applying to join the Party...
Speaking at the forum, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai said that in recent times, the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has focused on leading and directing the implementation of Party development work among students. Party committees of schools have always paid attention to, discovered, nurtured, and introduced outstanding masses who are students with comprehensive achievements in studying, training, and actively participating in Youth Union and association activities at school and local levels to the Party. After admission, school party committees continue to pay attention to and monitor to support, encourage, and guide new party members to fulfill their responsibilities as party members, becoming role models for students to strive to follow.
Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai affirmed that developing the Party among students is an important content in the Party building work. This is a difficult task, requiring perseverance and high determination of the entire political system. Therefore, Party committees at all levels, socio-political organizations, agencies and units must create conditions, opportunities as well as put their trust in young Party members to be trained and challenged, helping young Party members to be more aware of their responsibilities to the community, ready to devote their youth to the country.
"From 2020 to now, Ho Chi Minh City has admitted 1,000 student party members. This number corresponds to 4.85% of the number of party members admitted by the City Party Committee.
