Creating a solid foundation for strong and sustainable development between Vietnam and Malaysia

According to the special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of his official visit to Malaysia, on November 22, in Kuala Lumpur, General Secretary To Lam received Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Rural Development, President of the United Malays National Organization (UMNO) Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and senior leaders of the ruling coalition in Malaysia.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Rural Development, President of UMNO Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; recalled many good memories of working with the General Secretary in different positions; emphasized the tradition of friendship between UMNO and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The Deputy Prime Minister, President of UMNO and senior leaders in the ruling coalition all expressed their admiration for Vietnam's socio-economic development, considering it the pride of ASEAN; believing that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, headed by General Secretary To Lam, Vietnam will enter a new era of development, successfully achieving the country's development goals.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Rural Development, and Chairman of the UMNO party highly appreciated the significance of the visit, expressing gratitude because this was the first visit to a Southeast Asian country by the General Secretary in his new position.

General Secretary To Lam thanked the Deputy Prime Minister, President of UMNO and senior leaders in the ruling coalition for their good sentiments towards the General Secretary and the delegation; emphasizing that the visit demonstrated Vietnam's respect for the 50-year traditional relationship with Malaysia.

General Secretary To Lam informed the Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of UMNO and senior leaders of the ruling coalition about the major results of his talks with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim along with the two countries' decision to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

General Secretary To Lam and Deputy Prime Minister and President of UMNO discussed the situation of the two Parties and countries and important developments in bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia in recent times.

General Secretary To Lam congratulated Malaysia on the important achievements it has made under the leadership of the Solidarity Government, of which the National Front Coalition and UMNO are members; and expressed his belief that Malaysia will successfully achieve the goal of becoming a leading economy in Asia and among the 30 largest economies in the world in the next 10 years.

The General Secretary emphasized that the Communist Party of Vietnam attaches importance to the role and position of UMNO in politics and highly appreciates UMNO's contributions to fostering and promoting the development of relations between the two countries over the years.

The General Secretary expressed his wish to further strengthen the friendly and cooperative relationship with the UMNO Party; he believed that expanding and strengthening the relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the UMNO Party would further consolidate political trust and create a solid foundation for the strong and sustainable development of the bilateral relationship.

Within the framework of the newly established cooperative relationship between the two countries, General Secretary To Lam asked Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agricultural Development Dato' Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to continue to pay attention to and direct Malaysian agencies to coordinate with Vietnamese agencies to promote and effectively develop the cooperation potential of the two countries in the context that the two countries are entering a new stage of development; create more favorable conditions for Vietnamese processed agricultural products, seafood and food to enter the Malaysian market; emphasize that Vietnam is ready to continue to provide stable rice to Malaysia and share experiences in agricultural development, including food and coffee with Malaysia; request Malaysia to continue to create conditions and support Vietnam in developing the Halal industry, and encourage Malaysian enterprises to invest in the Halal sector in Vietnam.

The General Secretary asked the UMNO party and the Deputy Prime Minister and Party Chairman to continue to actively contribute to the development of bilateral relations in the new period.

Emphasizing that education and training is a strategic breakthrough in building human resources for development, the General Secretary suggested that both sides work together to promote cooperation in this field, including training of officials, university and postgraduate training.

The two leaders agreed to promote delegation exchanges, increase exchanges between young leaders and female leaders, coordinate at multilateral political forums, and contribute to building the ASEAN Community.

The Deputy Prime Minister and President of UMNO hopes that the two sides will continue to further promote relations on both state and party channels in 2025 when Malaysia is the ASEAN Chair.

The Deputy Prime Minister, President of UMNO and senior leaders of the ruling coalition affirmed that in their positions as party and state, they will continue to make efforts to promote multi-faceted cooperation, contributing to strengthening the relationship between the two parties and the common development of the relationship between the two countries, building a solid foundation for the development of each country, each party and the development of bilateral relations in the new period./.
