At the seminar, People's Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports, said that the literary and artistic activities of Ho Chi Minh City in the 50 years since the country's reunification have basically followed the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and the requirements set for the industry and fields, meeting the people's need for cultural and spiritual enjoyment. In each period, literature and art have closely accompanied, strongly encouraged and motivated all classes of people to carry out the country's political goals and tasks in the new situation.

Over the past 50 years, Ho Chi Minh City's literary and artistic activities have always been pioneers in the process of integration and creativity while still ensuring the preservation and promotion of national identity, forming the unique features of the city's culture, literature and art.

There are more and more literary and artistic works, but there are still few great, significant and valuable literary and artistic works. Creation is still following the same path, without strong breakthroughs and innovations; new works do not reflect social reality in a typical way, and do not touch the common emotions of the community.

The number of valuable literary and artistic works of the city introduced abroad is still limited.
