The project to preserve the traditional village of Ban Dong hamlet, On Luong commune, Phu Luong district was coordinated by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen, the People's Committee of Phu Luong district and other units to implement Project 6, under the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas from the central budget in the period of 2021-2025.
Ban Dong hamlet has 137 households with 544 people, currently 29 households still preserve stilt houses, of which 19 traditional stilt houses of the Tay people are preserved intact, the people here still maintain the traditional Then singing of the Tay people and many traditional agricultural products of economic value. From Ban Dong hamlet, it is possible to connect with historical, cultural and revolutionary relics that have been recognized as heritages with multifaceted values as resources for developing source tourism.

The project is invested and implemented on an area of over 1,800m2, with the investment scale of building a community cultural house, building toilets, a stage, preserving 5 traditional stilt houses and overall technical infrastructure. Supporting tourism development by building toilets that meet local standards, equipping public trash cans, supporting landscape restoration, enriching internal walking resources, lighting for tour maps, signs of households providing services to tourists, etc.
Up to now, On Luong commune has completed the documents according to regulations, promoted propaganda work, held meetings to listen to people's opinions on project implementation and received support and voluntary land donation from the people of Ban Dong hamlet to implement the project.
The project contents will support tangible culture such as traditional stilt houses, community houses; support activities such as traditional occupations, traditional costumes, traditional dishes, folk songs, folk dances, folk games; strengthen the promotion and propaganda of tourism, mobilize the participation of the whole community, foster knowledge about tourism for people; form tourist spots, experiential tourism to make Ban Dong hamlet, On Luong commune become an ideal destination for tourists.

Accordingly, the project has been supported by the people and selected 5 households to keep the traditional stilt house intact and choose the option of building a new cultural house for the hamlet according to the design of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen and hope that this project will be implemented in 2024, aiming to build and replicate effective models of preserving and promoting cultural identity, good traditions of each region, area, and ethnic group in building new rural areas, preserving traditional culture of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development in Thai Nguyen.
Phu Luong district has been implementing the restoration, preservation and promotion of unique and distinctive cultural features of ethnic groups associated with tourism development. The preservation activities have received consensus from ethnic people and enthusiastic support from artisans - cultural subjects. With the preservation of the traditional Tay ethnic village, Ban Dong hamlet, On Luong commune, Phu Luong district expects and wishes that the unique cultural heritage values of ethnic minorities in the area will become assets, contributing to attracting tourists.
The traditional stilt houses of the Tay people in Ban Dong usually have 3 to 5 rooms, most of which are over 20 years old. After that time, most of the stilt houses have begun to deteriorate, the pillars and beams are rotten, so the restoration and preservation of stilt houses in particular has partly relieved the worries of the people. The people here believe that if the original stilt houses of the Tay people are restored, it will open up new directions for economic development such as community tourism, homestay... At that time, the culture of the Tay people from many generations will be known to many people.
The preservation of the traditional Tay ethnic village, Ban Dong hamlet, On Luong commune, Phu Luong district, hopes that the unique cultural heritage values of ethnic minorities in the area will become assets, contributing to attracting tourists.
In addition, the intangible heritages of the Tay people such as Then singing and Vi singing are also restored and preserved. According to the Tay people in Dong village, this is truly a meaningful project, contributing to preserving traditions and cultural identity. More importantly, the Tay people here have the opportunity to escape poverty and develop the economy through community tourism.
According to the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province, projects to preserve and develop cultural villages in the area have recently produced positive results. Not only are the tangible and intangible cultural values of the ethnic groups preserved, but they have also become an important premise for developing community tourism. The Thai Hai Ethnic Ecological Stilt House Village Conservation Area in Thai Nguyen City is a typical example.
In particular, identifying the important role of cultural heritage in the development process, turning cultural heritage into an important cultural resource to promote sustainable development, including tourism development, in the coming time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province will continue to advise on building institutions, policies and resources, promoting the cultural identity of Thai Nguyen people with 3 orientations: Culture becomes a resource, a driving force for development; promoting traditional cultural values to inspire and aspire to build Thai Nguyen province "peaceful, happy, prosperous and friendly"; creating a unique cultural identity and position of the province in international integration and cooperation.
