The boarding housing project of Yen Thuan Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities will be completed in early June 2024.
We came to Yen Thuan commune (Ham Yen) when two schools, classrooms, and boarding houses of Yen Thuan Primary Boarding School and Yen Thuan Secondary Boarding School were under urgent construction. Despite the rain, the workers were still working hard.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Vuong, Construction Team Leader, THN Thang Long Joint Stock Company (Hanoi) constructing Yen Thuan Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, said: Construction started in August 2023 with a value of over 8 billion VND, the project is expected to be completed and handed over in early June 2024 to prepare for the new school year. In the past time, the company has always arranged and assigned 20-25 regular workers at the construction site to ensure the set progress.
Mr. Hoang Van Nghia, the school’s principal, said that on average, each year the school has about 90 boarding students from villages far from the commune center. In recent times, the school has utilized old classrooms and rooms to arrange living quarters and kitchens for students.
Limited facilities and cramped accommodation can only accommodate about 50% of the students staying at the school. In the 2023-2024 school year alone, the school has 119 boarding students. Of these, 53 are boarding students, the rest have to rent houses or stay with relatives... Not only teachers but also parents and students look forward to the project being completed and put into use soon to improve the quality of education and care for boarding students.
Before the Lunar New Year 2024, many "main arteries" invested by the People's Committee of Yen Son district have completed phase 1, handed over the site and opened the route such as opening a new concrete road from Ngoi Nghin village, Dao Vien commune connecting with Khau Lang village, Kien Thiet commune (Yen Son); opening a new road from Dong Pha village to Lang Ap village, Kien Thiet commune. The road project from Dong Pha village to Lang Ap village belongs to Sub-Project 1, Project 9 of the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas.
The road from Ngoi Nghin village, Dao Vien commune connecting with Khau Lang village, Kien Thiet commune (Yen Son) is being prepared for concrete pouring.
Currently, the construction unit is speeding up the progress of making drainage ditches to pour concrete on the road surface to complete in the first 6 months of 2024. Comrade Le The Hung, Vice Chairman of Kien Thiet Commune People's Committee, said that the project is about 2.5 km long with an investment capital of over 6 billion VND in phase 1; phase 2 has an investment capital of over 2 billion VND. Along with the supervision of the District People's Committee, the Commune People's Committee also actively coordinates with relevant agencies and units to proactively monitor the construction progress and quality of the project.
The implementation of essential infrastructure works under Projects 1, 4, 5 and 9 has been well carried out by localities, with a disbursement rate of over 80%. The works have contributed to changing the face of rural mountainous areas, creating favorable conditions for people to trade goods, develop production and improve the quality of life.
According to the Department of Planning and Investment, in 2024, the province will disburse nearly VND518 billion in capital under the National Target Program for Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas. Of which, nearly 300 essential infrastructure projects will be newly constructed, transferred from 2023 and are ready for investment.
That is a considerable amount of work. The Provincial People's Committee has strengthened its direction to all levels and sectors to actively participate in and quickly and effectively handle tasks within the functions, tasks and powers of the units. The People's Committees of the districts continue to enhance their responsibilities, make efforts and strive to complete assigned tasks, and gradually improve their management and implementation capacity. Construction units must overcome all difficulties, "overcome the sun and rain" to implement projects to ensure quality, technique, aesthetics and progress for the works.
