On the afternoon of April 4, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) announced an increase in toll fees on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway from 0:00 on May 5.
This decision was made by VEC after reporting to competent authorities about the company's plan to increase fees.
Accordingly, the fee for using the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway increased from VND 2,100/PCU (converted unit according to cars)/km to VND 2,240/PCU/km, corresponding to a 7% increase (including VAT).
The VAT rate in the amount of money cars have to pay when traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway until June 30, 2025 is 8%, according to the tax reduction policy of the National Assembly.
After June 30, 2025 or the time when the competent authority ends the VAT reduction policy, this tax rate is 10%.

With a 7% fee increase and including 8% VAT, from May 5, vehicles with less than 12 seats, less than 2 tons and public buses traveling along the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway will have a fee of VND112,126.
Vehicles from 12 to 30 seats, trucks up to 4 tons are subject to a fee of 168,188 VND.
Vehicles with 31 seats or more, trucks from 4 tons to under 10 tons are subject to a fee of VND 224,093.
Trucks from 10 tons to under 18 tons, container trucks under 40 feet have a fee of 215,116 VND.
Trucks from 18 tons or more, container trucks from 40 feet or more are subject to a fee of VND 448,948.
According to VEC's explanation, on December 31, 2021, the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) issued Decision No. 2323/QD-BGTVT approving the financial plan to combine cash flows of 5 expressway projects invested by this enterprise, including the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.
It stipulates the collection level and price increase roadmap (3 years/time) and the increase rate is 12%/time to ensure project investment efficiency and VEC's ability to repay investment loans.
Therefore, the increase in the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway fee is to implement the roadmap for adjusting the service price (commonly known as fee) according to the above regulations, in order to ensure the production and business goals and cash flow to fulfill VEC's financial obligations.
