Create the best environment for workers
On the morning of May 26, at the forum "Improving National Labor Productivity in 2024" organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the forum is very meaningful as it is held on the occasion of Workers' Month in 2024 and towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024).
The Prime Minister said that on the occasion of this important Forum, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong sent his best wishes to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and all workers nationwide.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor for choosing a very correct, very accurate, very necessary and especially important topic for the rapid and sustainable development of the country in the current period.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the report of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the frank, dedicated, responsible, and practical opinions of the delegates, representatives of workers, businesses, and researchers.
Among them, there are many constructive and very positive comments, clearly reflecting the bottlenecks, difficulties and obstacles in improving labor productivity; presenting good models and good practices; especially proposing and recommending profound and specific solutions.
The Prime Minister requested ministries, agencies and localities to fully synthesize recommendations, proposals and suggestions from union members and workers; focus on reviewing and absorbing as much as possible to perfect mechanisms, policies and related legal regulations and improve the effectiveness of implementation.
Propose that the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor study, absorb and have specific solutions for opinions related to functions, tasks and authority to implement in the coming time; create the best ecological environment for workers to promote creativity, innovation, patriotism and love for the profession.
Improving labor productivity is a matter of survival for every country.
According to the Prime Minister, labor productivity is a comprehensive economic indicator of special importance - one of the most important measures to evaluate and compare the level of development between countries, as well as between sectors and localities within each country.
On behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister acknowledged, highly appreciated and commended the efforts of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Trade Unions at all levels, the business community and the entire workforce of workers and laborers nationwide in enthusiastically competing in labor production, increasing labor productivity, and contributing to the overall achievements of the country.

In addition to the basic results achieved, the implementation of the target of increasing labor productivity in our country still has limitations, inadequacies, difficulties and challenges. Vietnam's labor productivity remains low; in the period 2021-2023, the labor productivity growth rate is lower than the set target (5.5%/year).
According to the Prime Minister, in the coming time, the international situation is forecast to continue to evolve rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably. Our country still faces difficulties and challenges because it is a developing country, the economy is in transition, the scale is still modest, the starting point is low, internal capacity is limited, resilience and competitiveness are not high, and openness is large...
In the context of increasingly fierce competition, while the fourth industrial revolution and science and technology develop every day, improving labor productivity becomes a very important and vital issue for all countries, especially developing countries, including Vietnam.
The Prime Minister requested the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, all union members, workers, trade unions at all levels, the business community, ministries, branches and localities to join hands to focus on implementation to contribute to promoting increased labor productivity.
In particular, focusing on key solutions such as: Prioritizing growth promotion - considering this as the foundation for increasing labor productivity, in which attention should be paid to macroeconomic stability, inflation control, and ensuring major balances.
Promote the implementation of strategic breakthroughs in institutions, infrastructure, especially human resources associated with science, technology and innovation.
Improve the quality of education, training and vocational training at all levels, grades, sectors and fields, ensuring the training of human resources with reasonable quality, quantity and structure.
Promote the transformation of labor structure from informal to formal, from low-productivity agriculture to higher-productivity industry and service sectors.
Promote industrialization and modernization; increase the proportion of industrial, service and agricultural industrialization sectors.
Take care of and ensure the legitimate rights and interests of workers in terms of treatment, wages, social welfare, healthcare, culture, education, sports, especially housing, and effectively implement the program to build 1 million social housing apartments.
"Improving labor productivity is an important, urgent, strategic, and long-term task of the entire political system - the shortest way for our country to catch up, progress together, and surpass in building and developing the country quickly and sustainably," the head of the Government emphasized.
