Famous for his luxurious designs, designer Le Thanh Hoa has recently surprised everyone with his new fashion approach to luxury brands. That is, recycling old dresses into new "works of art" for wealthy clients and beauty queens or using antique silk to create modern collections, introducing them to international customers.
Regenerating clothes, green fashion message
Recently, designer Le Thanh Hoa launched the "Beyond Deadlines" collection with a special dress worn by Miss Vietnam 2022 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy at the Miss International 2024 contest. Uniquely, this dress was "reborn" from an old design, thanks to the technique of painting and gilding. Instead of being forgotten, this outfit was recycled to become a new "work" with an artistic surface like a vivid abstract painting.
Miss Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy shows off her figure in a recycled dress at Miss International 2024, spreading a beautiful message about sustainable fashion.
Designer Le Thanh Hoa said: "Hoa wants to take advantage of and extend the life cycle of dresses. Turn it from an item that is thought to have lost its usefulness into a new fashion item that is more trendy, impressive and inspiring than ever.
In particular, Hoa also wants the item to meet aesthetic standards and values to conquer high-end customers. From there, attract more positive views on green fashion, contributing to spreading the spirit of supporting fashion products that have a sustainable impact on the environment and the community."
Designer Le Thanh Hoa said that although he mainly creates high-end and luxury designs, he has a deep passion for sustainable fashion. He believes that the true beauty of fashion lies not only in the glamorous appearance but also in the lasting value and meaning behind each product.
The designer also said that when sharing the idea of this "reborn" dress with Miss Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy, she was very supportive and excited. Miss Vietnam 2022 immediately brought it to the Miss International 2024 contest to show her appreciation and inspire the design to international friends.
Preserving ancient silk to promote traditional crafts
In addition to the "luxury" recycled dresses, designer Le Thanh Hoa also impresses with modern designs from ancient silk, for international beauties, performing at international events.
The designer shared: "The first time I came into contact with Ma Chau silk in Duy Xuyen, Quang Nam, Hoa deeply felt the story and the dedication of the artisans in preserving the craft village. At that time, Hoa realized that Ma Chau silk is not only a material, a cultural symbol expressed through each design, but also a very meaningful method of handmade fashion production with the goal of sustainable fashion industry".
At Miss Cosmo, the French beauty wore a dress made from ancient Ma Chau silk.

In his journey to find ancient silk regions, honor traditional crafts, and promote handmade products through fashion, Le Thanh Hoa encountered many challenges when he was "prejudiced" that silk was only suitable for ao dai or festive, formal outfits.
However, the designer's creative efforts have been rewarded very effectively. Silk with ancient patterns that are hundreds of years old have been vividly and freshly realized in modern life products.
Designer Le Thanh Hoa believes that fashion is not just about designs to be worn once, but also about the connection between the wearer and life. Aiming for sustainability, preserving traditions and spreading handmade products imbued with national culture is a responsibility and an opportunity to preserve resources for future generations. That is why he always strives to combine luxury and sustainability in his designs, creating products that are not only beautiful but also have timeless value.
Designer Le Thanh Hoa has cleverly combined Ma Chau silk, a traditional Vietnamese material, with recycled old designs, creating a unique fashion style with a green message.
Le Thanh Hoa has succeeded in recycling old products into high-end fashion, breathing new life into Ma Chau silk, making this traditional material more familiar and attractive than ever, and becoming one of the pioneering designers promoting sustainable fashion in Vietnam.
