According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade , in the first 8 months of 2024, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and the Russian Federation reached 3.12 billion USD, of which Vietnam's exports to Russia reached 1.56 billion USD, up 49.6%; imports from Russia reached 1.56 billion USD, up 36%.

Since the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (Vietnam - EAEU FTA) was implemented, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Russia has increased rapidly. In order to take advantage of the incentives brought by the Vietnam - EAEU FTA, with the aim of promoting support for Vietnamese enterprises to explore the market, research consumer trends, connect with distributors and importers in the Russian Federation market, introduce and promote the national image and brands of high-quality Vietnamese goods to Russian consumers, the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) in coordination with the Embassy, ​​the Trade Office of Vietnam in the Russian Federation and relevant agencies organized a Trade Delegation to the Russian Federation from September 15 to 23, 2024.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, affirmed: The Vietnam - Russia trade program has practical significance in helping the business communities of both sides connect and cooperate more closely.

Within the framework of the program, the Trade Promotion Agency organized a series of activities to connect Vietnamese enterprises with Russian importers. The outstanding activity of the delegation in Moscow was the Vietnam - Russian Federation business exchange program organized by the Trade Promotion Agency in coordination with the Trade Office, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation, and the Food City Trade Center.

The program received the attention of more than 60 delegates from government representatives, trade promotion organizations, industry associations and businesses of the two countries.

Mr. Vu Ba Phu, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, affirmed: The Vietnam - Russia Trade Program with the participation of many enterprises in the fields of agricultural products, food, consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, etc. is one of the specific and practical activities to help the business communities of the two sides connect and cooperate more closely.

Ms. Meshcheryakova Elena, Head of Strategic Development, Food City Trade Center, said that recently, Vietnamese agricultural products have increased in the Russian market, and some products have also consolidated their position in the market. This proves that goods from Vietnam are of good quality and are favored by Russian consumers. Therefore, imported products and goods from Vietnam always attract the attention of wholesalers and retailers in Russia.

As one of the major commercial centers specializing in importing and distributing agricultural and food products in Moscow, Food City is ready to cooperate with Vietnamese enterprises to bring quality Vietnamese products to be distributed here.

Ms. Anastasiia Saiannok, Chairwoman of the Board for Development of Cooperation with Vietnam, Russian Federation Import-Export Business Association, said that the good traditional relations between Vietnam and Russia will create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to cooperate in business. She emphasized that in the context of the world situation with tensions, the number of Vietnamese businesses connecting with Russia still increased 7 times compared to 2023.

In her role as the Association, Ms. Anastasiia Saiannok said she is ready to support Vietnamese businesses in finding partners in various fields, especially Vietnam's strengths such as agricultural products, processed foods, etc.

Following the success of the Vietnam - Russia Business Exchange Program held in Moscow, the Trade Promotion Agency continued to organize the Vietnam - Russia Trade Promotion Conference in Saint Petersburg with the participation of nearly 100 delegates from the two countries.

Mr. Vladimir Katenev, Chairman of the Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that with a wide network of members and experts in the field of import and export, the Saint Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry is ready to support Vietnamese enterprises interested in business cooperation with Russia. In addition, as discussed with Director Vu Ba Phu, the two agencies will coordinate to promote trade promotion activities to provide maximum support for businesses of the two countries to connect and trade, contributing to increasing trade turnover between the two countries.

To increase exports to Russia, Mr. Duong Hoang Minh, Vietnam Trade Counselor in the Russian Federation, emphasized the importance of maintaining the quality and quantity of goods supplied to partners in the Russian Federation. In addition to Vietnam's strong products such as agricultural products and processed foods that have been present at major fairs, Mr. Minh said that participating in specialized fairs in the supporting industry sector will bring practical results for Vietnamese enterprises in this field.

Trade activities after each conference attracted the participation of many businesses from both countries with hundreds of transactions taking place, some businesses exchanged and agreed to cooperate with Russian partners.

In addition, within the framework of the program, the Trade Promotion Agency also organized for Vietnamese enterprises to visit and work with a number of Vietnamese enterprises operating at Food City, working with Mareven Food Group, a large Vietnamese enterprise in the Russian Federation in the field of processed food. The delegation also worked with the Hanoi - Moscow Multifunctional Complex on promoting Vietnamese goods on the shelves of the INCENTRA Trade Center in particular and the Russian Federation market in general.
