Strengthening coordination among forces in combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods

DTO - On the afternoon of April 21, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, Head of the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (Steering Committee 389) chaired a national online conference to review the work of the first quarter of 2025 and the direction and tasks of the Steering Committee in the coming time.

At Dong Thap province, comrade Huynh Minh Tuan - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 attended the conference.

According to the Central Steering Committee 389, in the first quarter of 2025, the activities of buying, selling, transporting prohibited goods, smuggling, illegal transportation of goods, trade fraud and counterfeit goods across borders are not too complicated. However, emerging is the trick of taking advantage of e-commerce platforms to advertise and trade in counterfeit goods of unknown origin: fake products such as milk, functional foods, modern medicines...

Comrade Huynh Minh Tuan - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and members of the Provincial Steering Committee 389 attended at the Dong Thap province bridge.

Specifically, in the first quarter of 2025, units and localities nationwide arrested and handled over 30,600 violations. Of which, the authorities detected and arrested over 6,750 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods; over 22,700 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud; 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations; collected over VND 4,616 billion for the state budget (an increase of 59.45% over the same period); prosecuted 1,328 cases and 2,046 subjects.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that the complicated global trade situation, especially due to the US tax policy, creates the risk of increased smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods of Vietnamese origin with sophisticated tricks through e-commerce, social networks and express delivery.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches and localities to review and consolidate their organizations, strictly implement the directives, develop appropriate plans, and focus on combating smuggling, fraud, and illegal transportation of drugs, gold, foreign currency, and counterfeit goods. At the same time, strengthen education for officials, strictly handle violations, and commend achievements to stabilize the market, protect consumers and promote domestic production.
