Promoting the traditions of the Vietnamese community in Attapeu

Continuing the working program in the provinces of South Central Laos, on the morning of April 5, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh and the working delegation of Da Nang city visited the Association of Vietnamese People and the Vietnamese Language Center of Attapeu province.

The Vietnamese community in Attapeu province currently has 304 households with 936 people, most of whom develop their economy mainly through small-scale trading.

The Attapeu Vietnamese Language Center was built with support from Da Nang City in 2018, with a total investment of 6 billion VND, with a scale of 2-storey building including 5 classrooms. Every year, the city sends 2 teachers to teach at this Center. In 2024, the Center trained 02 classes with 87 students.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh highly appreciated the role and activities of the Vietnamese Association and the Vietnamese Language Center of Attapeu province, contributing to preserving and promoting the national cultural identity, cultivating the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos as well as between Da Nang and Attapeu province.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee also said that Da Nang currently maintains regular delegation exchanges and cooperation, supporting the Central and Southern provinces of Laos, and also regularly cares about the Vietnamese community here.

On this occasion, the city provided 120 million VND in support to pay salaries for Vietnamese language teachers at the Lao-Vietnamese Friendship High School; supported local people with 50 million VND to celebrate Bunpimay; and presented books and gifts to Vietnamese language teachers there./.
