In order to improve the capacity to diagnose, treat and manage hypertension and diabetes in the community, from May 9 to 12, the Provincial Center for Disease Control organized training for doctors and staff participating in the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases at medical facilities in the province.
At the training course, the lecturer updated and summarized the contents of non-communicable diseases; provided guidance on diagnosis, treatment and management of hypertension and diabetes at health stations; provided guidance on early disease screening; practiced medical examination and prescription; practiced capillary blood sugar testing and discussed some clinical cases, and made outpatient treatment records. In addition, the lecturer also provided guidance on communication skills and gave advice on nutrition and physical activity to patients to achieve treatment goals and prevent complications of the disease.
Currently, there are many factors that increase the risk of non-communicable diseases such as smoking, improper nutrition, lack of exercise and alcohol abuse, and an unreasonable diet. In Lao Cai , as of the end of March 2023, the whole province had 22,399 patients with hypertension and 3,756 patients with diabetes being managed and treated at medical facilities. Strengthening the capacity of early detection and early treatment for the grassroots medical team will help patients in the province receive better health care, limiting dangerous complications and the risk of death.
