DNO - On April 22, in Da Nang, the National Office of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) organized the 72nd meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Intellectual Property Cooperation (AWGIPC 72) and a series of events lasting until April 26.

Accordingly, AWGIPC 72 focuses on implementing issues related to: ASEAN's action program on intellectual property for the 2016-2025 period; a number of intellectual property cooperation activities between ASEAN and ASEAN's partners.
On the sidelines of AWGIPC 72, events will take place such as: the 15th meeting of the Intellectual Property Subcommittee of the ASEAN - Australia - New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA IPC 15); the ceremony to celebrate World Intellectual Property Day 2024 and the launching of the "Central region students green innovation" contest in Hue city, Thua Thien Hue province.
According to Director of the Intellectual Property Office Luu Hoang Long, in recent years, ASEAN has promoted intellectual property cooperation among member countries, as well as expanded cooperative relations with partners, expecting ASEAN to become a creative and competitive region in the world.
In particular, AWGIPC has been playing a leading role in developing, coordinating and implementing ASEAN action programs on intellectual property, aiming to achieve the intellectual property goals stated in the ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint.
Through the event, member countries will continue to effectively implement the ASEAN Action Plan on Intellectual Property for the 2016-2025 period and gradually build the ASEAN Action Plan on Intellectual Property for the post-2025 period.

At the conference, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong said that the city government pays great attention to implementing solutions on intellectual property development; promulgating many mechanisms and policies focusing on promoting intellectual property activities and developing intellectual property in the city and has achieved positive results.
Specifically, promulgate the Intellectual Property Development Program until 2030; policies on supporting registration for protection of intellectual property development in Da Nang city until 2030... which stipulates a number of policies to support enterprises in technological innovation in Da Nang city, preferential policies for investment in supporting industry development, and rewards for authors with inventions and useful solutions that have been granted protection certificates.
From 2022 to present, the city has supported nearly 100 businesses to innovate, improve technology, and develop products; supported many organizations, individuals, and businesses to register and establish intellectual property rights; supported registration for protection, management, and development of industrial property rights for 37 community trademarks in the forms of collective trademarks and certification trademarks.
Currently, the city is building a geographical indication “Nam O” for Nam O fish sauce products with a total cost of 3.6 billion VND. According to data from the Department of Intellectual Property, as of December 31, 2023, Da Nang has 4,202 certificates (trademarks, patents, utility solutions, industrial designs) granted, ranking 6th in the country.
