Strengthening cooperation between Quang Binh province and Salavan province (Laos)

Attending and chairing the meeting on the side of Quang Binh province was Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Quang Binh province Vu Dai Thang as head of the delegation.

On the side of the neighboring province, there was the member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary, and Governor of Salavan Daovong Phon-keo as head of the delegation.

At the meeting, the two heads of delegations informed each other about the socio-economic situation, national defense and security, Party building and government work of each province; and proposed a number of cooperation contents between the two provinces.

Secretary of Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee Vu Dai Thang shared more information about the socio-economic, defense-security of Quang Binh province and assessed the relationship between Quang Binh and the provinces of Laos.

Accordingly, in addition to the long-standing traditional relationship with the border provinces of Khammouane and Savannakhet, Quang Binh has expanded its cooperative relations with the provinces of Champasak, Xaysomboun, Bolikhamxay, etc.

As for Salavan province, although there is no common border, the two provinces have many similarities and a close relationship with many activities. In 2022, at the invitation of the leaders of Salavan province, a delegation of Quang Binh province led by Mr. Tran Thang, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, visited and worked in Salavan province.

In June 2023, Salavan province also organized a delegation led by the Deputy Governor to visit and work in Quang Binh province. From 2022 to present, each year Quang Binh province supports Vietnamese language training for 2 officials and specialized training for 5 students at training facilities in Quang Binh province.

In the spirit of the great friendship between the two Parties, two States and people of Vietnam and Laos, in addition to promoting the propaganda and education of cadres and people, especially the young generation, about the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, the high-ranking delegations of Quang Binh and Salavan provinces discussed and agreed to sign the minutes of the talks with the following contents:

Every year, Quang Binh province supports Salavan province in training 10 cadres to learn Vietnamese and students to study majors at the province's training facilities.

Salavan province supports Quang Binh province to train a staff/student to study bachelor's degree at the National University of Laos.

The two provinces actively promote cooperation in trade, tourism, etc.; encourage and create conditions for enterprises to invest in production and business in fields suitable to the potential and strengths of each province.

In addition to the above contents, the two provinces encourage cooperation in other fields suitable to the needs and capabilities of each side, with specific and practical content.
