Strengthening cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the two chambers of Uzbekistan

On April 8, at the Uzbekistan National Assembly Headquarters, within the framework of his official visit to Uzbekistan and participation in the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly (IPU-150), National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Chairman of the Legislative Institute (Lower House) of the Uzbekistan National Assembly Nuriddinjon Ismailov.

At the talks, Speaker of the House of Representatives Nuriddinjon Ismailov expressed his pleasure to meet the Chairman of the National Assembly again and assessed that the participation of Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man in the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and the official visit to Uzbekistan were of great significance, contributing to opening up prospects for bilateral cooperation in all fields, making positive contributions to the development and construction of each country.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives affirmed the importance of the traditional friendship with Vietnam; thanked and highly appreciated the orientation speech of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man at the High-level Plenary Session of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives said that as the first speaker at this session, the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly led the following speeches, contributing to the success of the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, which was held for the first time in Uzbekistan and in the Central Asian region.

On this occasion, the Speaker of the House of Representatives also thanked Vietnam for its support at multilateral forums including the United Nations, especially when Uzbekistan put forward an initiative on environmental protection.

Speaking at the talks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his pleasure on behalf of the Party and State leaders to lead the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation to attend the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly and pay an official visit to Uzbekistan; thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Uzbekistan side for their sincere sentiments and the warm and respectful reception for the delegation.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Uzbekistan on successfully organizing the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly and affirmed that the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly attending the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly not only demonstrates the country's respect for this important Inter-Parliamentary Union organization but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and friendship with Uzbekistan.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man sincerely congratulated Uzbekistan on its impressive development achievements and shared the results of talks and meetings with Uzbek leaders.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man also informed about Vietnam's remarkable socio-economic development achievements in recent times as well as the goals towards a new era - an era of striving, developing richly, civilizedly and prosperously.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that Vietnam always values the long-standing traditional friendship and wishes to promote cooperation with Uzbekistan in all fields to meet the interests of the people of the two countries.

Pleased with recent high-level exchanges, especially this visit by the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, the two leaders agreed to continue to increase delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level ones, promote direct connections between ministries, sectors and localities, contributing to promoting cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, culture, tourism, agriculture, green development, digital transformation, infrastructure, climate change, etc.

Welcoming the opening of direct flights between Tashkent and Cam Ranh, the two leaders suggested that relevant agencies continue to consider promoting the opening of new routes, exploiting the potential and advantages of each country; and have favorable visa policies for people of the two countries to travel smoothly.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that the Vietnam-Uzbekistan Business Forum held this morning will contribute to connecting the market, clearly demonstrating the determination to turn economic potential into concrete cooperation to bring the two countries' relationship into reality and effectiveness.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two sides soon complete legal frameworks such as the Visa Exemption Agreement for Passports, the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement, and the Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement to promote economic, trade, investment, and tourism relations between the two countries. The two sides also welcomed the early opening of representative offices in each country to contribute to connecting and effectively promoting bilateral relations.

On the National Assembly channel, appreciating the results of the talks with the Chairman of the Uzbek Senate and the signing of the Cooperation Agreement with the Senate, the two leaders affirmed their desire to strengthen relations between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the two houses of Uzbekistan, through exchanges and connections between the National Assembly agencies and delegates, supporting and promoting all-round relations between the two countries; soon signing a cooperation agreement with the House of Representatives; promoting the role of supervising and urging the implementation of signed cooperation agreements.

On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man asked Uzbekistan to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work stably in the country, contributing to being an important bridge to promote the friendly relations between the two countries.
