Health protection foods do not have the effect of replacing medicine.

The representative of the Food Safety Department emphasized that health protection foods are products used to supplement the daily diet, to maintain, enhance, improve body functions, and reduce the risk of disease.

Health protection foods are not drugs and cannot replace medicine. In case of illness, people need to go to a medical facility for examination and timely treatment.

If buying these products, people need to pay attention to choosing health protection foods that must be granted a Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration by the Food Safety Department, because only then can the product be circulated on the market.

All information about health food products that have been granted a Certificate of Product Declaration Registration and a Certificate of Advertising Content Confirmation is publicly available on the websites https://vfa.gov.vn/, https://dichvucong.moh.gov.vn/ and https://congkhaiyte.moh.gov.vn/. People can look up information before deciding to buy the product.

At the same time, carefully check the product information, on the product label or sub-label (for imported products) to ensure that there is complete information: product name; date of manufacture, expiry date; ingredients, quantitative ingredients; quantity; instructions for use, storage instructions (uses, users, how to use); warnings about risks (if any); write the phrase "Health protection food"; write the phrase "This food is not a medicine, does not have the effect of replacing medicine"...

When viewing advertisements on social networks, people need to pay attention to distinguishing signs of violations in advertisements, such as drinking health protection foods and then being cured of diseases or having images of doctors and medical staff introducing the product, without the line "This food is not a medicine and does not have the effect of replacing medicine"... These are advertising contents that violate the law.

The Ministry of Health also requested localities to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and local authorities to strengthen inspection and post-inspection, focusing on timely detection, prevention, handling of violations and recalling fake health protection foods, health protection foods that have not been granted a Certificate of Registration of Product Declaration by the Food Safety Department, and poor quality foods on the market.

Check and review e-commerce trading floors, e-commerce sales applications, e-commerce sales websites and food business stalls on the above applications, to detect foods that have not been declared to remove information on e-commerce floors...
