Strengthening digital skills education for students

In the 2024-2025 school year, Le Loi High School (Tho Xuan) has 1,713 students, the number of students using mobile phones accounts for about 80%. Right from the beginning of the school year, the school has required students to sign a commitment to comply with regulations and codes of conduct on social networks, and to propagate and encourage students to have civilized behavior and conduct in the digital environment. Along with that, teachers regularly share knowledge and skills with students when participating in social networks such as: Guiding students to clearly understand their responsibilities in maintaining a safe and positive social network environment; selecting useful content for study and life; controlling the content they share, ensuring that they do not spread false information and always verify information from reliable sources... The school's Youth Union set up a fanpage to share information about good people, good deeds... to spread good things and orient information for the school's students.

Ms. Do Thi Hong Hanh, Party Secretary and Principal of Le Loi High School, said: "Improving digital capacity for students is integrated into teachers' lessons. Teachers use online application software for teaching; guide students to choose reputable domains and channels to exploit information; encourage students to apply technology to study, look up information, think for themselves, evaluate content, apply and create on digital platforms; participate in online exams. Equipping students with information technology knowledge and digital skills helps them expand their learning opportunities, access learning resources, explore interactive content on digital platforms; enhance creativity and problem-solving skills".

Recently, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union of Thanh Hoa province launched the movement "Digital Education for the People" in 2025. At the launching ceremony, more than 300 cadres, union members and students listened to the reporters of the Provincial Police and Hong Duc University convey the following topics: Instructions on accessing the internet and essential digital skills (using software and social networks) in a civilized manner, ensuring safety and security of information at the most basic level, avoiding digital fraud; equipping union members and young people with digital skills to effectively exploit digital services, platforms, digital technology, especially artificial intelligence in study, work and life.

Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, a student at Hong Duc University, said: "I found the topics at the launching ceremony of the "Digital Education for the People" movement very useful and meaningful. Through that, it helps union members and students form and develop skills to identify, process, and master information on cyberspace; proactively filter and identify bad and toxic information and receive positive information."

Comrade Le Van Chau, Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union said: "The Provincial Youth Union identifies the "Digital Education for All" movement as one of the important tasks of the Youth Union to affirm the pioneering, proactive and creative role of young people in the digital age of the country. The Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union of Thanh Hoa province have issued documents directing all levels of the Youth Union and the Association to deploy activities in response to the "Digital Education for All" movement in conjunction with the implementation of the tasks of the Youth Union and Association, in accordance with the characteristics of each locality and unit".

With the motto of "going to every alley, knocking on every door", all levels of the Youth Union and Association continue to maintain the youth volunteer team for digital transformation, volunteer Saturday... The groups and teams have propagated and provided mobile guidance to each household. As a result, 100% of the Youth Union and Association bases have coordinated with the police of communes and wards to support and guide the installation of VNeID software for union members, youth and people of all walks of life; 100% of cadres and civil servants of the Provincial Youth Union and union cadres from district to grassroots have activated level 1 and 2 electronic identification accounts. The whole province has established 2,349 community digital technology groups with the participation of 19,066 cadres, union members and youth to propagate, mobilize and guide people to make citizen identification cards, install and activate electronic identification accounts. Accordingly, 1.6 million people have been propagated and guided; 356,118 cadres, union members and youths have activated level 1 identification accounts; 658,333 cadres, union members and youths have activated level 2. To date, 73.1% of young people have access to digital capacity building activities; 65.6% of young people use online public services, 81.9% of young people use electronic payment accounts.
