Strengthening safety assurance in construction and production of building materials

Accordingly, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, sectors and units according to their assigned functions and tasks and the areas under their management to be responsible for organizing the enhancement of safety in construction, production of construction materials and construction components in the area according to the contents proposed by the Ministry of Construction.

Previously, on May 14, the Ministry of Construction sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities regarding this issue due to the recent occurrence of a number of serious occupational safety incidents related to construction, repair, and operation of technological equipment, causing great damage to people and property.

Therefore, the Ministry of Construction requests the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities to direct their affiliated functional agencies to strengthen the organization of inspections combined with propaganda, dissemination, and guidance on the implementation of legal regulations, applicable standards, and technical regulations on safety in construction activities, operation, repair of machinery, technological equipment, and incident handling procedures at factories producing construction materials and construction components in the area.

The Ministry of Construction also proposed to resolutely stop construction and production if violations of labor safety regulations are detected that pose a risk of causing labor safety loss at construction sites or factories; and strictly handle violations according to the law.
