Strengthening drowning prevention for children

Accordingly, the relevant departments and units coordinate with localities to effectively carry out education, management, and ensure safety for children at school, in the family and in the community, while strengthening life skills education on awareness and safety levels when participating in activities in the water environment. The Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Education and Training to coordinate with relevant agencies, units, and localities to continue to review and implement more drastic and effective measures to prevent drowning for children and students in the province.

People's Committees of districts, towns and cities focus on directing the review and taking timely warning measures for locations at risk of drowning accidents in the area; step up information, propaganda and mobilization of people, actively coordinate education and management, and do not let children and students bathe in ponds, lakes, canals, ditches, rivers, streams and seas in unsafe areas.

The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee and provincial associations and organizations to direct and guide their affiliated units to coordinate with sectors and localities in propaganda activities on injury prevention and drowning prevention for children, especially in the upcoming summer; coordinate to monitor the implementation of injury prevention and drowning prevention for children; actively mobilize social resources to participate in child care and protection. The Provincial Youth Union has a plan to coordinate with the Department of Education and Training, Health, localities and related units to organize swimming courses and escape skills, safety skills in the water environment for children; organize healthy recreational activities for children and students, especially during the summer vacation.
