Strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2025

In the first quarter of 2025, Steering Committee 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities did a good job of leading, directing and thoroughly disseminating, requiring units and forces to strictly implement the directives of the Government, Prime Minister, and National Steering Committee 389 on the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods.

Units and localities arrested and handled 30,651 violations (down 0.77% compared to the same period). Of which, the authorities detected and arrested 6,754 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods (up 74.51% compared to the same period); 22,774 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud (down 11.06% compared to the same period); 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations (down 20.90% compared to the same period); collected more than VND 4,616.7 billion for the state budget; prosecuted 1,328 criminal cases (up 18.36% compared to the same period). Particularly during the implementation of the Peak Plan before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025, the authorities arrested and handled 39,489 violations (an increase of 27.42% over the same period in 2024)...

At the conference, ministries, branches and localities focused on evaluating the results achieved, limitations, shortcomings, causes and directions and tasks to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in the coming time.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son said: Recently, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods has become very complicated, including the production and trade of fake milk, medicine, functional foods... affecting the health of consumers.

The world economic situation is very complicated, with many changes in policies, especially in trade of some major countries. These developments have a great impact on the global economy, as well as the Vietnamese economy, affecting macroeconomic stability, growth, import-export activities and domestic market management.

In the coming time, the National Steering Committee 389 requests the Steering Committees 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities to review and consolidate the Steering Committees 389 of their ministries, branches and localities; closely follow and effectively implement the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 on the direction and key tasks of the work against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2025.

Develop programs, plans, and solutions to combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods in accordance with local conditions and mission requirements. Particularly focus on combating and effectively preventing the illegal trading and transportation of drugs, smuggling, and illegal transportation of gold, foreign currency, and counterfeit goods of Vietnamese origin for export to other countries.

Strengthen education for cadres and civil servants to improve their professional qualifications, skills, awareness, political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, not to assist, protect, or cover up smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods; commend and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding and exemplary achievements to encourage, motivate, and spread the example of good people and good deeds in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods...
