Currently, spring rice in the province is growing and developing well, some early-planted areas have reached maximum tillering. However, the complicated weather, water sources on major rivers are depleted, saltwater intrusion is deep, and the heat is prolonged, causing pests and diseases to break out strongly, affecting rice productivity.
The Agricultural Extension Center has increased its outreach to the fields and disseminated information on mass media so that farmers can promptly grasp how to care for spring rice.
Faced with this situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested units and localities to deploy urgent measures to care for and protect spring rice. In particular, the People's Committees of districts, cities and the Department of Agriculture and Environment should strengthen field inspections, early detection and timely implementation of pest control, especially the two-spotted stem borer and rice blast disease in coastal areas.
The North Thai Binh and South Thai Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company proactively checks water sources, ensures enough irrigation water and deacidifies, washes away alum and salt for coastal areas, and prevents rice from being affected by drought and salinity.
The Department of Crop Production and Livestock, the Department of Irrigation, and the Agricultural Extension Center mobilize technical staff to closely monitor the fields, forecast the situation of pests and diseases, and guide farmers to implement effective prevention measures. The Agricultural Extension Center strengthens propaganda on mass media so that farmers can promptly grasp how to care for spring rice.
