According to the assessment of the Central Steering Committee 389, in the first quarter of 2025, the world and regional political and economic situation will have many unpredictable fluctuations, with the risk of a global trade war, negatively affecting the economies of countries, including Vietnam. In the country, although the prices of some commodities such as gasoline, oil, and gold on the market will increase and decrease erratically, the country's economy will continue to recover and develop positively. The volume of imported and exported goods, passengers, means of transport entering and exiting the country, and transiting through border gates will continue to increase; the supply of food, foodstuffs, and essential goods serving people's lives will be diverse and stable.
Activities of buying, selling, transporting prohibited goods, smuggling, illegal transportation of goods, trade fraud and counterfeit goods across borders, land border gates, sea borders, seaports, sea areas and key inland areas are not too complicated, and no hot spots have arisen.

In the first quarter, units and localities arrested and handled 30,651 violations (down 0.77% compared to the same period in 2024). Of which, the authorities detected and arrested 6,754 cases of trading and transporting prohibited and smuggled goods (up 74.51% over the same period); 22,774 cases of trade fraud and tax fraud (down 11.06% over the same period); 1,113 cases of counterfeit goods and intellectual property violations (down 20.9% over the same period). In Lao Cai, the fight against smuggling, fraud and illegal transportation of goods across the border is well controlled. The forces have detected, arrested and handled 257 cases of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (down 53 cases compared to the same period in 2024). Of these, 31 cases involved illegal trading and transportation of prohibited and smuggled goods; 204 cases involved trade fraud and tax fraud; and 22 cases involved counterfeit goods and goods infringing on intellectual property rights.

In the coming time, the forecast of complicated developments in the world and the region, therefore, the National Steering Committee 389 has identified a number of key tasks such as: continuing to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives of the Government, the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee 389 on the work of preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; requesting the Steering Committees 389 of ministries, branches, provinces and cities to review and consolidate the Steering Committees 389 of ministries, branches and localities; closely following and effectively implementing the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the National Steering Committee 389 on the direction and key tasks of the work of preventing smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods in 2025...
