2024 is the 13th year that Tan Hiep Phat Company has accompanied the Golden Globe Award - a prestigious award for young Vietnamese talents at home and abroad to honor and develop talents in the field of science and technology.
Supporting outstanding talents
The Golden Globe Award is chaired by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, and has been annually presented since 2003. After 21 years of organization, 214 outstanding individuals have been honored. This year, the award was launched in early June and will last until mid-August 2024. The Organizing Committee received a total of 69 applications, in 5 fields: Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation, Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Technology, and New Materials Technology. Each field has 1-3 representatives winning the award.
Most of the candidates are PhDs, working at universities, the rest are studying and researching in France, the US, Sweden, Singapore... In terms of age, nearly 18% are under 30 years old, the youngest is 22 years old, in the field of New Materials Technology.
The award council said that many candidates have patents, utility solutions, many high-quality international publications in category Q1, many domestic and international awards and medals and are outstanding in community activities.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Secretary of the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet assessed that the scientific research and innovation movement among youth, students and young scientists has developed strongly over the years. Therefore, the Golden Globe Award has also constantly innovated, expanded the scope, subjects and fields of consideration, aiming to develop high-quality human resources.
Mr. Triet said that after receiving the award, many young scientists have become leaders, managers, playing important roles in science and technology agencies and organizations; or are founders and leaders of large-scale technology enterprises... Regardless of their position, they continue to affirm their research capacity with valuable scientific works.
Help bring ideas to life
After 13 consecutive years of Tan Hiep Phat accompanying the Golden Globe Awards, at the 2024 Awards Ceremony, the company's Number Energy Drink brand announced an additional sponsorship of 2 billion VND this year with the desire to accompany and support young scientific talents to ignite their passion, creativity, and develop science and technology to contribute to the country and serve society.
Specifically, Number 1 brand will select a number of outstanding projects from young talents who won the Golden Globe this year to support in-depth research and put into practical application.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Tu - Director of the Center for Science, Technology and Young Talent Development - said that for a young talent to develop, there must be the participation and support of the whole society, from the political system to organizations, businesses and encouragement from the community.
“This money will be invested in the scientific works and products of young talents in the field of science and technology. You have good works and good ideas, but you need resources to turn these ideas into reality and apply them to life. This is a new, very practical and effective direction to support young talents, help them develop themselves and contribute to the community,” Mr. Tu commented.
The need to find social resources to accompany and support scientific research and develop inventions for widespread application throughout society is a practical need of all young scientific talents.
Dr. Nguyen Van Son, Lecturer of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology, VNU Hanoi, winner of the 2024 Golden Globe Award, said that the participation of businesses like Tan Hiep Phat in the Golden Globe Award is a meaningful contribution to researchers, especially young researchers from abroad.
“This support helps us have resources to support future research, especially in the early stages when we first return to Vietnam. It helps us shape our research direction and position in the research community. It both encourages and contributes to the overall development of Vietnamese science and technology,” said Dr. Nguyen Van Son.
At the award ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Operation Assurance & Reputation of Tan Hiep Phat Company - said that the Golden Globe Award and Tan Hiep Phat have "harmony" in their efforts to innovate and create to contribute to society.
