Currently, the area of intensive and super-intensive shrimp farming (STC) in the district is more than 1,500 hectares, with more than 2,100 farming households. Because the economic efficiency is quite high, averaging 30-40 tons/ha/crop, the area has developed quite quickly compared to before.

Having raised STC shrimp for nearly 3 years now, with more than 20,000 m2 of production land, Mr. Pham Minh Dien, Nam Chanh Hamlet, Ngoc Chanh Commune, planned to use 12,000 m2, divided into 4 ponds, each pond is 800 m2, the rest is storage pond and discharge pond. Each year, he stocks 2 crops, each time releasing 300,000 shrimp fry, worth over 45 million VND, stocking density is 100 shrimp/m2. In 2024 alone, he will harvest over 20 tons of shrimp, size 20-50 shrimp, price from 100-150 thousand VND/kg, after deducting expenses, he will make a profit of more than 500 million VND. Currently, he has 2 ponds that have been stocked for over 2.5 months, shrimp reach 45 shrimp/kg, planning to raise them to a size of 30 shrimp to harvest.

In addition to STC shrimp farming, farmers in the district also practice improved extensive farming with high productivity and shrimp farming with little water change. Up to now, the whole district has maintained and developed 48,000 hectares of improved extensive shrimp farming, with productivity reaching 500-600 kg/ha/year.

In 2024 alone, people in the district raised and exploited more than 116,600 tons of aquatic products, reaching over 100%, an increase of more than 1.3% over the same period. Since the beginning of the year, the output has reached more than 30,400 tons.

In addition, the district also prioritizes the development of shrimp-forest farming in 3 communes: Tan Tien, Tan Thuan and Nguyen Huan, mainly raising ecological black tiger shrimp, aiming to achieve international and regional organic certification, to enhance value and competitiveness in the market, with more than 5,100 hectares, with an average yield of 350 kg/ha/year.

The district plans and integrates into the province's general planning, calling for investment in the agricultural sector in the district. Accordingly, some projects and works mentioned include: STC shrimp farming project applying high technology, area 40 ha, in Nam Chanh hamlet, Tan Dan commune; aquatic seed production center, area 140.8 ha, Luu Hoa Thanh hamlet, Tan Thuan commune; seafood processing factory, area 10 ha industrial park, Tan Thuan commune; organic shrimp farming project (shrimp - forest area), aiming to achieve international or regional certification, in Tan Tien, Tan Thuan and Nguyen Huan communes. In addition, developing fishery logistics services, integrating into the planning include deep-water fishing port projects of 10 ha in size at Ganh Hao estuary, Tan Thuan commune; 25 km coastal erosion control embankment in Tan Thuan, Nguyen Huan and Tan Tien communes. Up to now, the planning work for aquaculture development has been quite clearly oriented, speeding up the progress of promoting investment calls and proposing and recommending superiors to invest in building projects related to infrastructure development.

Regarding the replication of production models, in 2024 alone, the district will replicate 142 effective production models, an increase of 34 models compared to 2023; divided by field: there are 102 aquaculture models, an increase of 13 models; 22 livestock models, an increase of 12 models; 11 crop models, an increase of 5 models; 6 multi-plant and multi-animal models, an increase of 4 models and 1 other field model (fish sauce making).

The “One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program has been strongly directed by the district, with many types of products participating in the evaluation and ranking. In 2024, it directed the organization to evaluate and develop 12 new 3-star OCOP products. Currently, the district has 50 OCOP products of 11 entities (10 products reaching 4 stars).

There are many production models that have achieved certain results, however, the district has identified the STC shrimp farming model, 2-phase improved extensive shrimp farming combined with the use of biological products, crop-cutting pond drying process for combined shrimp-crab farming; blood cockle farming and combined shrimp-blood cockle farming, as models to increase aquatic product output. The district People's Committee has directed the relevant agencies to encourage farmers to expand the farming area in the planning area for households with sufficient capital and infrastructure.

The Party Committee and the government pay attention to and coordinate the application of science and technology in production. In addition, households also have access to new science and technology application processes from experts from institutes and schools in implementing models and pilot projects, and the support of engineers from companies and agents of shrimp breeds and aquatic feed.

The locality has implemented 2 projects from the district's science and technology fund, including: Improved extensive shrimp farming project combined with crabs, applying biological products; Improved extensive shrimp farming project combined with seaweed, with a total science budget support of 540 million VND. The projects have disbursed 100%, the project results have been assessed as satisfactory, and are being implemented to develop a replication plan in 2025.

Currently, the potential for developing the aquaculture industry, especially shrimp farming, is still quite large. We believe that with appropriate solutions and policies, it will contribute to the further development of the district's aquaculture industry, achieving the target of 118,000 tons of aquatic products in 2025./.
