Terrorist attack in Russia: more than 60 people killed

NDO - On March 22, Russian media cited initial figures from the Public Relations Center of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) saying that more than 60 people were killed and more than 100 injured in a terrorist attack at the "Crocus City Hall" concert hall in Krasnogorsk, a suburb of Moscow.

According to Russian media sources, the terrorist attack occurred before the evening concert at the Crocus Concert Hall. A group of armed men opened fire in the main hall, after which fires broke out on the upper floors of the building. Immediately after the tragedy, the Russian Foreign Ministry called it a bloody terrorist attack. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case. Law enforcement agencies in Moscow are urgently taking the necessary measures to rescue the injured and find the terrorists.

More than 30 regional ambulance teams and 20 capital ambulance teams have been dispatched to the scene to carry out the task. Residents of the capital and Moscow region are called upon to donate blood to save lives, starting from 8:00 a.m. on March 23, Moscow time. Currently, security measures have been strengthened at airports and railway stations in Moscow. All public events with large crowds have been canceled, and some universities have announced that students will be absent from school.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called on the international community to condemn the bloody terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow suburbs. Meanwhile, Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov announced the establishment of a state of emergency headquarters.

Crocus Concert Hall in Krasnogorsk is located in the Crocus shopping center near Myakinino station, which belongs to the Crocus Group of businessman Araz Agalarov. The building has seven floors, with a total usable area of ​​over 38,000 ^m2 . The complex has a hall with over 9,500 seats, and was inaugurated on October 25, 2009.
