Foundation formation
The implementation of the project will contribute to building a modern, sustainable, and responsible Vietnamese agriculture . Therefore, as soon as the project was announced, the Party Committee, government, and people of Tan Chau town have been diligently and systematically implementing it step by step. In 2024, the town began its participation in the project with a pilot project covering 500 hectares, focusing on Tan Phu A1 Agricultural Cooperative (Tan Thanh commune) and Tan Hau A2 Cooperative (Tan An commune).
“A key highlight in the implementation process is the synchronized application of modern technical advancements in rice production, using a “3-in-1” drone to support sowing, spraying pesticides, and fertilizing. Farmers participating in the project receive support covering 50% of the seed cost, 30% of the pesticide cost, 50% of the fertilizer cost, and 50% of the drone cost,” shared Mr. Trinh Van Dut (Director of Tan Phu A1 Cooperative).
All seeds sown in the project are certified seeds.
Alongside the implementation of the practical model, the town also focuses on training, raising awareness, and improving the production capacity of farmers. In 2024, the town's agricultural sector organized 17 training courses. Of these, 6 courses were specifically for farmers directly participating in the model at Tan Phu A1 and Tan Hau A2 cooperatives. The support of all levels, sectors, and specialized units, along with the application of modern techniques and the enhancement of farmers' knowledge, has created a solid foundation for Tan Chau town to expand the scale and implement the project more effectively in 2025 and subsequent years.
Increase the area by 6 times.
In 2025, Tan Chau town aims to expand the area participating in the project to 2,953 hectares, nearly six times the area in the first year. This area is distributed across 10 communes and wards, with localities having large participating areas such as: Long Son (475 hectares), Tan An (388 hectares), Tan Thanh (381 hectares), Le Chanh (375 hectares), Vinh Hoa (346 hectares)... "These will be bright spots that help spread new methods, encouraging farmers to gradually change their production mindset towards linkage, responsibility, and environmental friendliness..." - Mr. Le Trong Oanh (Deputy Head of the Agriculture and Environment Department of Tan Chau town) commented.
During the implementation of the project, the town also encountered many difficulties, such as: limited management capacity at cooperatives in the area; some cooperatives have not yet played their role as a focal point to represent farmers in organizing production and signing consumption linkage agreements. In light of this reality, the Town's Department of Agriculture and Environment proposed several key solutions. These emphasized that the province needs to have specific support levels for infrastructure investment in production areas, and at the same time, issue clear support policies for farmers participating in the project so that communes and wards can easily mobilize and disseminate information. They also stressed the need to continue inviting reputable businesses to establish long-term partnerships with cooperatives and production groups, thereby forming a strong production and consumption linkage chain.
Tan Chau town is determined to implement the project not only as a story of a locality accompanying the major policies of the Party and the State, but also as a process of reshaping modern, responsible, and environmentally friendly agricultural practices. “The town government has been creating an important foundation for a new rice production model. In this model, farmers receive technical support, businesses work alongside them in consumption; and the products produced ensure both economic value and environmental standards. This demonstrates the strong determination of the entire Party committee in implementing the major policies set forth by the Party and the State…” – Mr. Khuu Ba Phuc (a farmer from Phu Vinh commune) expressed.
From an initial 500 hectares to a target of nearly 3,000 hectares (by 2025) and expectations of further expansion in the following years, Tan Chau town is affirming its positive role in implementing the green agricultural development strategy of the Mekong Delta region, where rice is not only an agricultural product but also a symbol of innovative thinking and action, contributing to the successful implementation of resolutions of the Party Congress at all levels in the coming time.
