The volunteer examination team, consisting of young doctors and nurses from Children's Hospital 1, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital and Khanh Hoa General Hospital, used modern equipment to perform ultrasound and heart disease screening for children under 18 years old in the above localities.
Free screening for congenital heart defects for 2,000 children in Phu Yen
Through screening, children with mild congenital heart defects will be recorded and monitored by the Ho Chi Minh City Congenital Heart and Pediatric Cardiology Association. In severe cases, children will be transferred for treatment (surgery, intervention) at specialized cardiovascular centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Khanh Hoa province, with full support from benefactors.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Association presented 2,000 gifts (each worth 200,000 VND) to local children.
Free screening and treatment of congenital heart disease for children is one of the regular community-oriented activities of the Ho Chi Minh City Congenital Heart and Pediatric Cardiology Association. This is the third time the Ho Chi Minh City Congenital Heart and Pediatric Cardiology Association has been present in Phu Yen to examine, screen and treat congenital heart disease for children for free. Through previous screenings, nearly 30 children with congenital heart disease have been detected and there has been a plan for intervention and free treatment support.
