On September 12, regarding the suspension of Dinh Khao ferry terminal for two nights to carry out repairs, Mr. Dinh Quang Huy, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Vinh Long province, said that he had directed relevant units to notify transport businesses to get information.

"The Department has also notified the Management Board of the Vam Cong Ferry Cluster (Dinh Khao ferry terminal belongs to the Vam Cong ferry cluster). The unit said it will announce the information on provincial television stations five days in advance so that people and transport units know. From there, they can proactively arrange their travel time and route accordingly," Mr. Huy added.

According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Transport of Vinh Long province, during the temporary suspension of operations, cars from Vinh Long to Ben Tre can travel along the route from National Highway 60 to Tra Vinh via Co Chien Bridge.

In addition, people can also travel along National Highway 1 to My Tho city (Tien Giang province) and turn onto National Highway 60 to Ben Tre.

Previously, Road Management Area IV announced the temporary suspension of Dinh Khao ferry terminal to carry out the work of replacing the pontoon and auxiliary buoy.

Construction time on the Ben Tre province side starts from 6pm on September 24 to 6am on September 25; on the Vinh Long side starts from 6pm on September 26 to 6am on September 27.

To ensure the safety of people and vehicles passing through the ferry terminal, Dinh Khao ferry terminal will temporarily suspend transportation operations.

Dinh Khao Ferry is located on Highway 57, across the Co Chien River, between Ben Tre and Vinh Long. Dinh Khao Ferry also connects Vinh Long city with four communes of An Binh island of this province.

During rush hour, holidays and Tet, the number of people and vehicles increases dramatically, so the ferry terminal is often congested.

In April 2024, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province submitted a document to the Ministry of Planning and Investment on the implementation of the investment project to build Dinh Khao bridge connecting Vinh Long and Ben Tre provinces.

According to the preliminary report, Dinh Khao Bridge starts at National Highway 53 in Long An Commune, Long Ho District, ends at the existing National Highway 57 and is more than 6km downstream from Dinh Khao Ferry. The total estimated investment is about 3,200 billion VND.
